Hey, quick question for you guys. Do you think that when Mordheim gets re-released that it will be on round or square bases? It seems that GW is phasing out the square bases, but I don't know. Wondering if it is worth rebasing my warbands or not.

At the moment, we don't know if it will be re-released, let alone what the setting will be or what the rules will be like. You're looking at at least a year to 18 months* before anything happens, so I wouldn't rush out right now.
I've played Mordheim against models on 30mm round bases (Warmachine models) and 25mm squares (Confrontation models), and even a mix in the same warband. It doesn't make much of a difference.
*The only concrete announcement is that Blood Bowl will be back in 2017. After that, the only rumour I can think of is some form of Epic.

There's no real reason to have square bases in a skirmish game that doesn't dovetail with a ranked mass battle game.

Yeah, honestly it was a bit odd having square bases in original Mordheim; it's not like GW never put Fantasy models on round bases before—Blood Bowl is all about the round.

This is good to know. I never played Mordheim but would like to considering I have a large Empire army (now on circle bases for AoS).
I'm glad the square bases are not required.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-) |

Because Mordheim does not exist in the Age of Sigmar, it is still set in the era of Warhammer Fantasy. So, it will still have square bases.
Ha! That's a WFB vs AoS joke! The bases don't really matter. Round is probably better, aesthetically.
Now, watch SG's come out with a new Mordheim that includes rules for ranked fighters with square bases. Then, we can all dust off our pitchforks and torches.

Which always struck me as odd, since it would suit square bases the best.
I assume it was done to allow players to use miniatures from Mordheim and Warhammer in the same game easily. Or simply because it's a sort of "trade dress"; sci fi minis on round bases, fantasy ones on square.

Hahahaha, don't you put that evil on us Ricky Bobby! In all honesty I wouldn't be surprised about that whatsoever.

The only thing that realistically matters is that all the models in a given warband be based the same. I would not want to play a mixed square and round base gang, nor would I want to play a gang that is on Privateer bases AND also on flat bases (not GW ones, more like Perry minis)
