I'm trying to set up a decent army based off of Dark Vengeance. (FA = Fallen Angel)
Preferrably using all/most of the Dark Vengeance set.
This is what I'd have:
5 FA Terminators
9 FA Marines + 1 FA Marine Leader
FA Librarian Sorcerer
FA Quartermaster
3 FA Bikers

Chaos Lord
Chaos Aspiring Champion
Helbrute
20 Cultists
6 Chosen

I'm probably going to get Cypher as HQ, perhaps Typhus as well eventually.

Who are you playing against and how competitive do you want to be longterm?

Currently I'll be playing vs Grey Knights
In ten weeks Ill play a 1000 pts battle with a friend


Mt friend told me there is a place to play at decently close, but we dont know yet.
Not competetive as in tournaments, probably never.
Just doing this as both a relaxing and fun hobby and to sate my hunger for a Tabletop Game

I like the look of Papa Nurgle's army as well as the Fallen Angels.
Plus Ive always been more of a Tanky strategist anyway

to have a fun time just take basic marines with a few weapon upgrades and roll dice and drink beer.

Please take it from me...CSM has it rough and dont let that get to you. You gotta understand your role as the evil bad guys who die in droves for the good guy heroes. Just have a beer and roll dice and dont care about losing.

I am a sore loser and I am a WAAC player and I have like zero friends and no body wants to play me, but when they do its some bullish cheese army they got all tailored to beat my list 100%...

Squad of 10 marines can form one group.

Take the 6 Chosen and FA Master and Librarian, aspiring champ, lord and form 1 group of 10 men. Just make them count as marines...

Take a squad of 20 cultists.

Convert Terminators into obliterators.

take 3 FA bikers as Nurgle Bikers.

Take helbrute as is.

List should look like this

Hq: Lord, Pow sword or what ever

troops:
9 Chaos marines joined by Lord

10 Chaos Marines, try to give them 2 plasma guns or melta

20 Cultists, 18 autoguns

play knowing you may lose to grey knight shenanigans. Just let it happen. Its not about winning with csm. its about making friends and having a good time.

If you try to be WAAC like me then you will have so much hate and anger at GW and most likely quit.

Ill most likely get Cypher or something else eventually to back my list up. Fallen Angel fluff and such.
I dont mind losing at all.
Its a game and Im mostly doing this to have fun, relax and perhaps make a friend or two.
Im not going to always cheese it up with Chaos Lord with Murder Sword on a bike and Cypher on a bike, then let Cypher kill someone and have the Lord touch bases to get the buff.
To me its about both having fun.
At first I was looking at Orks and Dark Eldar but I didnt really likr the fluff and look, so I went back to my Warhammer 40k roots: Chaos.

If anyone has any comments, tips or advice feel free to ask/say so

How are your conversion skills? With some modest conversions and extra bits (usually on the cheap), you can turn that DA Librarian into Cypher, replace the plasma cannon on the FA marine (try a plasma gun or autocannon bit; the removed plasma cannon can go on the helbrute with some fairly straightforward modelling), add another special weapon to one of the bikes, and change out the weapons loadout on the Chosen (cut off some of the CC stuff, and add in Melta guns).

The termie with the winged helmet/armor also makes for a great Sorcerer (with ML3 and a Spell Familiar), with a rather dark paint job.

I'm able to swap stuff etc, but I'm not able to cut off stuff like that without making a real mess

I've looked it up and it's cheaper to get Cypher himself instead of getting the sword etc (€10 on Ebay just for the sword)

To be fair, I'll probably forget about buying Cypher since he doesn't do an awful lot against tanks nor does he do anything but shooting 3 times per round
It'd be better to just get Typhus or have my FA Sorcerer and Chaos Lord gear up together
