I am running 1501pts against eldar tonight. My Eldar opponent wants to practice his tournament list - tournament doesn't allow SHV or GCs.

Decurion
CCB - Warscythe and Phylactery
1 x 5 Immortals
Tomb Blades (Nebscope and particle beamer - No shield vanes)
2x 10 Warrirors
D Cult - mimimum Load out - D Lord with Phase Shifter and Warscythe
Judicator Battalion - Standard

He'll have: CAD: Eldar + Allied: DEldar + Formations
Eldar:
Autarch - probably with one of the Dire Avenger squads
2 Minimum Squads of Wraith Guard with D-scythe
2 Min squads of Windriders with Scatter Lasers
Squad of 3 Falcons to get cloud strike ability

Formation: Dire Avenger Shrine - Will go in the falcons - deep strike in

DEldar:
Archon with webway portal - will webway 1 squad of wraith guard
1 squad of kabalite warriors - to fulfill the requirement
1 Raider - will carry around 1 squad of the Wraithguard

I am thinking that I will keep destroyers and praetorians in DS reserve. He hasn't played against necrons since 5th ed.

He'll deep strike in his dirty Dscyths and kill my warriors maybe. Or go for the CCB or stalker. I'll then counter and kill everything with AP2 or AP3 shooting.

I wonder if I should keep my stalker and CCB in reserve. He then will only have his jetbikes on the table and his kabalite warriors vs my 2 warrior squads, Immortals and Tomb blades. I could deepstrike in my destroyers to kill his bikes. I could then ds my praetorians to kill his wraithguard.

He'll deepstrike his falcons into my back field and unload his dire avengers. My stalker can come on and nuke a falcon or flame a DA. squad. CCB could come on and shoot its gauss cannon...but have to wait a turn to assault. At least i can come on after him and not have to worry about him deepstriking behind me and hitting rear armor.

Thoughts?

Replace the CCB with a basic overlord. It's been nerfed so hard in 7th that it's just not worth taking. If you're trying to find a list to counter eldar, I'd suggest using at least 1 harvest formation. The destroyers are a great choice to counter wraith, and will probably end up being your best chance at doing real damage. I'd suggest protecting your destroyers above most other units.

Honestly I don't think his list sounds that scary honestly so even with a web way, just make sure you're not clumping up too hard and you'll be fine. He'll get 1 round of shooting on you and then should lose that whole unit.

Eldar also don't really have 2+ saves, so you don't exactly need AP2 weapons except for damaging vehicles. AP3 will kill everything he can throw at you for the most part which is why destroyers will be so important in your game. If you're not sure how to protect them, you can always deep strike them as well.

Overall, biggest suggestion is to replace the CCB. It's just not going to do much of anything.
