Now, I'm well aware that depending on what they eat, a group of kroot could become whatever. My question is if there are any kroot psykers that were born that way, as apposed to have obtaining it via eating some race that was psychic.

There use to be a large list of different types of kroot sub-species. I don't know remember a psyker version, but it wouldn't surprise me.

I doubt there are psykers in any great numbers, but given that the Kroot tend to try and at least guide their genetic evolution to obtain certain traits, it could be possible to identify genetic markers which would make them prone to acquiring psykic abilities and use said genetic markers to make themselves more likely to become psykers.

Can't remember the book but there was an instance of Kroot who ate Eldar flesh. This allowed to them subconsciously use psychic powers to help the camouflage, they had midnight coloured hide and needle thin teeth. The worried the Space Marines in the book, but in the end the Marines won and blew the continent to pieces to ensure that these new dangerous Kroot don't travel. But if it happened once it could happen again.

They must have some psychic ability of some sort - Kroot natively have warp-capable starships.

The answer is -

Interestingly enough, it doesn't say it on either the Tau or Kroot pages but it does say it in the link provided. Kroot are one of the Psychic-capable species that work with the Tau.

On a side note, this belongs in Background, not General Discussion.

Wouldn't Tau be Pskyer-capable, but the odds of even an ML-1 equivalent be miniscule, even at the galactic level? And, if one did occur, I doubt it'd survive long anyways.

Tau are the tiniest blip in the Warp, but are Warp-capable.

Yes. Kroot Shamans are psykers.

In the 3rd edition Merc list you could even give the Master Shaper (commender) minor psyker powers. My force has one converted to look shamanistic, with a skull-topped staff.
