Hi first things Thunderwolves arnt elites there a fast attack choice
If you want to go close combat heavy I'd suggest taking the champions of the great wolf detachment from champions of fenris it requires 1 HQ and 2 elites instead of troops and gives thunder wolves and wolf guard +1ws I play an 1850 list with a small thunder star, 6twf wolf guard battle leader on wolf and librarius conclave on bikes for invis and endurance etc with 3 squads of 5 combi melta wolf guard in drop pod to ruin any knights or high armour targets and counting as my elite choices but you could use your wulfen packs for this ? if you don't have any wolf guard just proxy grey hunters for them there basically the exact same model.
-You are totally right, they are fast attack not elites, list went there were few incarnations, i must have not changed that part and Had wolfen there first i think.
-When i posted this i didn't have the book that had the Champions of Fenris book, but yes a good choice for sure now that i have looked at it. I would question is the +1
WS is worth it or not to use this formation as opposed to A normal cad, and taking the
TWC star so that I can also take the Wolfen Murder pack formation and bring those buffs to my
TWC? I might be wring, im asking cus Im fairly new. Also i am probably just dense and not seeing it, but Im not sure how i run a star of Wolfguard battle leader when he is a
HQ choice, unless im running a few of them? If so arnt i getting traditional
TWC for cheaper per model for basicly the same damage output? (again asking cus Thats was how I was rationalizing it numbers wise, but again im new!)
-At 1850 I was probably looking at running the Blackmane formation with the wolf star, just waiting for all my drop pods to come in and get them assembled (SO MANY!)

I don't quite understand how you typed the list out, particularly the TWC. 3 TWC but I count 7 weapons...
I think the Wulfen do very very well with the frost Claws, allows them to attack higher initiative too. 1 or 2 SS/TH in there but that's about it I would say.
I'm still figuring out the best delivery method as currently footslogging them costs me at least half my squad. That all said, I still don't think the SS/TH is the right way but I'm probably wrong.
With this list, you're entirely on foot, your anti armour is your TWC and grey hunters, who will be very slow to walk over...
I'd also argue against the conclave. Look in to the RP equivalent, its cheaper..
-The
TWC are 6 total, so 5
SS and powerfists, and pack leader with x2 wolf claws. (i think my math is good on this, maybe i screwed something up if i did by all means let me know. But i may have just not been clear)
-I leaned away from frost claws, if I don't go
TH/
SS with them then I would tend towards the axes, cus they are guna murder almost anything they get the charge off on with the exception of knights, and even then they have a chance. But without the
SS's i worry about them dying in shooting as they come in. I considered mixing units, and going to a leader with claws, 2 axes and 2
SS/
TH's but wasn't sure if that was worth it.
- I have only played 1 game with them so far, but I got lucky and rolled gate on Demo on my librarians that i put with them and they just jumped across the board. They killed a IK, a couple of them survived the D and stomp and the explosion even, so SUPER worth! But i don't know that that will be the norm.
-I took the conclave so I could take Telepathy if i wanted, and if you take a psychic hood, then they are actually cheaper then WP equivalent, I don't know if its really worth it, but for Telepathy the extra 5 pts (i think) per model was almost worth it. I didnt get Invis this game unfortunately but only rolled it on one of them this time to try other things.

I can't help but disagree with the rune priest conclave as they can't use the telekinesis powers so won't be able to provide invisibility
The thunder wolf unit has 6 guys he put +3 thunderwolfs so I'm guessing that means +3 to the original 3 ? Given he's only got 5 storm shields I'm guessing he's planning on giving one guy duel wolf claws ? Can't say I think that's a good idea it might be best to give two individual guys 1 claw 1 shield each ?
- i thought about taking 1
SS and 1 claw on more then one model, but decided against it, so i could just bubble the Pack leader( he has the claws) with the other Shields. I tend to accept challenged alot by some of the people i play with so i thought two claws might deal with that better for an extras attack. If im wrong there again im more then open for advice!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, I am running them with a very Chaos theme. Space Wolves Fallen to Khorne. I love conversions and themed armies, So I want to keep an "aggressive" feel to things. But i am not opposed to suggestions for builds and such, cus i also like to win games, or i would be playing
CSM lol
