My biggest concern is playing against Tau and their Ignores Cover. Last night a player at our FLGS told me about this unit of Tau with 14 Fusion Blasters that are twin-Linked, ignores cover, and the unit 4D6 jumps in the assault phase. Basically Orks worst nightmare. Well, mine anyways.

I run 4 things: Bikers with Boss and PainBoy, Tankbustas, Mek Gunz, and Bully Boyz in Trukks. Works well for me except playing Tau. Last night in a 2000 point game I tabled a very competent Space Wolves player.

So tell me why this idea won't work:

If they deploy first I deploy my Trukks on table edge. Deploy bikes in front of them. If they get first turn I should be out of range of most of their stuff? First turn I move Bikes and Trukks 12" and TB and Flat Out 12". Weather a turn of Tau shooting. 2nd turn charge.

At 2000 points, does Tau have enough to destroy anything on my table edge first turn? I'm assuming either some MegaNobz OR the Biker mob will survive to assault.

Any thoughts?

I think it will work. You give him enough target saturation and he wont know what to focus on and wont be able to get rid of everything.

If you are going second, I would recommend overloading one side of the board. Don't plan to have one of your units face off against one of his units. I would let him deploy and spread his units around. Then when you deploy put everything toward one side. So even after you move everything forward 24" he wont have everything in range, nor will he have line of sight to everything.

Getting into the Tau's faces ASAP is a great idea, but with such light ork armour, there's still the possibility you'll be minced before you ever get into contact. That will depend on a lot of other variables such as cover and simple luck though.

You'll need all the distraction you can get, which is where those mek gunz will be useful.

uh, 4d6 in the assault phase? im quite curious where the hell he got that rule from since the Warlord trait is 3D6 not 4D6. Riptides can move 4D6 if they novacharge their jetpacks.

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.

The Mek Gunz are MVP's every game. Usually it's the overlooked Lobbas but last night a mob of KMK's took out 10 Grey Hunters and 15 Blood Claws in 2 shooting phases. So nice!

Some Shadowsun with Jumpsuit Death Star with drones and some other character with a power fist AP 1 that has special BS he grants to his unit and doesn't fire a weapon. I'll ask to see his codex when I play him this league cycle.

I usually expect and assume people know their own codices and to play fairly. Never hurts to check I guess.

that sounds like a typical buffmander. Shadowsun automatically gives him the 3D6 warlord trait if shes his warlord but the buffmander doesnt have a special jump. Hes the source of the reroll to hit, ignore cover, tank/monster hunter for the unit if he doesnt shoot, and it only works in the shooting phase.
