So the Murderpack has gotten some hype for the extra Move potential. But with the Wulfen themselves only having a 4+ armor save and presumably having to not be embarked for the curse to work, that makes for an expensive and vulnerable formation of one doesn't get to go first.

Has anyone tried them out yet? I guess if the Wulfen were out of sight next to, say, a maxed out Deathpack formation? That seems like the combo to all but guarantee a first turn charge with a nasty Thunderwulfen unit and possibly the Wolf Lord against another unit.

Of course it's not just the points cost, it's the dollar cost of five units of Wulfen too! If the Wulfen were Fleet that would sway me for sure, but given that the Curse doesn't affect other Wulfen units they seem to be sitting ducks for heavy bolters and assault cannons on land speeders.

Should I max out my wolfyness with 75 Fenrisian wolves in a Wolfkin and Wolves Unleashed instead?

I played the formation and the problem i see with it is that if you do get any of the movement buffs then your wulfen are left behind which means that they are not buffing your army again until turn 3.

Why do you think that the wulfen can't be embarked for their curse to work? Just like any aura put them in a vehicle and the bubble gets bigger. There is the exception that models embarked don't gain the effect of the curse, but nothing saying that if the wulfen are embarked they don't still effect other units.

The Curse stlll works if the Wulfen are embarked. You just measure from the hull of the vehicle.

I was looking for that Aura effect rule while embarked but couldn't find it. What page is that on in the BRB? That would be good for my Culexus too.

I'm thinking the Wulfen might just be good as the Elites choices for a Company of the Great Wolf detachment, certainly better than alone Wolves or servitors. That way in a 3 detachment tournament ( which seems to be the popular limit) I could field some Wulfen, the Deathpack, and Wolfkin for the Company lord to run with.
