Wondering if anyone can tell me which formations are in the new farsight enclaves supplement that is released today. Want to get it but very tight on money so don't want to have the mont'ka as well if this doesn't have what I want in it.

I think its just the ones in Mont'ka.
Pretty sure it's just Mont'ka with less Guard and Assassin stuff, there may be more Farsight fluff.

Could be the hunter cadre or something like that which wasn't in Mont'ka but was part of the dawn blade contingent.

It's got all of the formations for the dawnblade:

hunter cadre
retaliation cadre
counterstrike cadre
rapid insertion force
ranged support cadre
piranha firestream wing
firebase support cadre
skysweep missile defence
air superiority cadre
allied advance cadre
drone net

plus the eight

Is that actually stated in the updated supplement? I don't recall seeing this in the Mont'ka rules.

It specifically says you may take sig systems from both codexes.

FSE 2016:
SIGNATURE SYSTEMS
Any character in a Farsight Enclaves Detachment or Formation that may select Signature Systems may use the Signature Systems of the Farsight Enclaves (opposite), at the points costs shown, in addition to the Signature Systems from Codex: Tau Empire

Mont'ka:
SIGNATURE SYSTEMS
Any character in a Farsight Enclaves Detachment or Formation that may select Signature Systems uses the Signature Systems of the Farsight Enclaves (opposite), at the points costs shown, instead of the Signature Systems from Codex: Tau Empire.

As of today Mont'ka has not been updated to reflect this change in FSE.

The only thing really nice is being able to take iridium armor on your commander in FE now. The rest of the sig sys aren't that great

This must just be in the hard copy. The digital FSE book still agrees with Mont'ka.

Are you looking at the 2016 version?

Since the Supplement was released after the Mont'Ka book its safe to say that this is the most updated version for using the FSE.

19th Krieg Siege Army 7500pts.
40k/HH Night Lords 5000pts.
Orks Waaaghmacht Spearhead 2500pts.

Yes, GW updated the digital copies to the newest revision of FSE, or so I thought it would be considering it has the DBC in it now.

Can confirm that the iBook enhanced edition has the old wording with "instead" which seems to be wrong even though it was updated a few days ago with the Monk'ta stuff etc. The newer FSE printed copy is worded such as they can have both Signature Systems. I have gotten confirmation from Blacklibrary support regarding this issue but no answer yet if and when the ibook edition will be updated.

Breaking news, just got this response from BL:

"There will be an update in the coming weeks that will correct the problem. You'll see the update notification when it's available."

So someone with only the physical Mont'ka book will be missing out on extra options? This is why we need updated FAQs from GW.

Or the digital copy of Mont'ka - it hasn't been updated to the new wording.

This is exactly what errata should be for. Or give us a voucher for the digital version with the physical copy.

That's pretty irritating. I said screw it a while back and just bought the Mont'ka book to have the updated FSE rules, then GW ended up putting out the updated FSE book anyway, then gave me a free update for my digital version...which I would have appreciated a hell of a lot more if they had offered that to me before I blew all that money on a campaign book, which already has outdated info in it now.

Sometimes it feels like they do this gak on purpose just to feth with people. Someone at GW is probably laughing their ass off, deliberately creating contradictions just to watch people argue about them.

It's getting to the point when it's not worth buying anything on release in case they update it a month or so later.

for a company that only makes models, they seem to be making bank selling the rules as well.

I personally have always bought the books for the fluff first, rules second. Once upon a time, the writers for the fluff sections in the codexes use to be the be amazing. Personally the fluff in the Farsight supplement is worth buying the book IMO even if you'd owned Mont'ka and didn't own FSE. My only problem with it was it took the mystery away from why Farsight left, but it did a great job of explaining what happened to him.
