Perturbed Blood Angel Tactical Marine

Hey guys. I decided to get back into the hobby and decided to start a Chaos Space Marine army.

For my first model, I decided to customize and paint up a champion for my chosen.

As always, comments and criticism is greatly appreciated.

I love the blood effect on the sword. Looks crusty! How did you do this?

Welcome back to the hobby, looks great for a return miniature after a long absence. The only tips I can give you for now are;
- thin your paints. The face mask and sword look to have thickly applied paint
- don't neglect highlighting the details. Both the purity seals, chains, red cross on the left pauldron, skull on the chest and grip of the sword could use some more highlighting.

The sword is a mix of vallejo german dark grey mixed with some oily steel. This is then drybrushed with two layers of runefang steel, then I brushed, and sponged some Typhus Corrosion on it, then brushed and splattered blood for the blood god on it. (mainly splattered.) It actually looks a lot more subdued without a massive amount of light on it.

I have done a bit more highlighting on the seals, cross and pauldron since they seem to have gotten a bit washed out as they dried. Thanks for the tips. The face mask is actually multiple very thin layers bringing it up from grey. Unfortunately the primer I used was thicker than expected due to being an old can. :(

White is generally a crap colour no matter the range or thinning.
