I insist that fluff should be your guide. If one Legion can do it, usually others can too.

Unless you want something really specific like daemon summoning or an army of massed bikes, there is no obvious answer.

Completely agree (says the guy who chose Word Bearers as I want Daemon summoning and fanaticism). Moreso than in 40k, my advice would be to look at all the legions and choose the one that you really like aesthetically and lorewise. The tweaks to each legions playstyle are minor, but you have to love painting the models and feel that they are awesome the second they hit the gaming table.

What does your gut tell you?

I've been thinking of making the jump myself to 30K, this post has me leaning more. The only thing is finding players in my area.

What I did was start up with the Calth set and built out from there - The army can be used as a 40k army as well (either Chaos or Loyalist, depending on your pick) so the army can be used in 40k as well. If nothing else, people might follow when they start seeing the models and in the end, you end up with a better looking army than most that can be used in both systems.

In my town, after I started and posted pictures in various groups, 5-6 other players have joined. So now we have a small group going and more are joining every week, as they finally see they have someone to play against.

All it takes is that first dude to take the leap - The rest will take care of itself.
