Hi,

We have two swarm armies we've played for years - Tyranids with hundreds of termagants and gargoyles, plus the usual Hive Tyrants etc etc.

Our most recent army is Orks, which we've been painting for the best part of the last three years - we have a Greentide, (now irrelevant, sigh), stompas, an Imperial Armour list with Spanna Boys, loads of walkers , battlewgons, you name it, all gloriously yellow.

These armies are great to model, fun, reasonable competitive (tyranids) and not too competitive (Orks). Now, for a change of pace, we want a smaller, meaner army and have hence built up an Eldar collection. We want to go Good. And we want to go Nasty

we have three wave serpents, maybe 15 dire avengers, plus a few metal warlocks and a spirit seer obtained from various swaps. We want to build this into a small, mean army that's a contrast to our main forces.

We've been out of circulation for a bit so don't know the competitive builds. We don't want to keep modelling for years, like we did with Orks - we want to assemble a force, spray it green (Biel Tan) scheme, all as simply as possible. Low model count is a definite advantage. Like the idea of a bikes, as that's a contrast to what we have, but open to ideas. Don't really want to spend ages getting hold of bits etc.. as we've been there, done that.

So, please shout out, with themes, pointers, and do link to any good builds you have seen/used. TIA. "We" is hive fleet jr and sir, junior plays, senior paints.

Well, if you're wanting to use the units you have, that's all you need for a Dire Avenger Shrine. If you want to go small and mean, take the Spritseer, get a couple of boxes of Wraithguard (possibly with D-scythes), and throw them in the Wave Serpents to create a CAD. Eldar jetbikes are damn sexy and also very, very powerful for point cost.

Edit: this is a good jumping off point to build what you want for flavor, throwing in whatever sounds fun. Eldar units are quite good, so just have fun with them!

you didn't mention what points level you want the Eldar army to be so I'll just give generic pointers .

In anycase the obvious inclusions to the army would be Windrider Guardians with scatterlasers, this will usually be consist of 6 squads of 3 guardians. In otherwise this gives you 72 strength 6 shots a turn on the fastest unit in the game with objective secured.

A Wraithknight would be the second obvious choice, its a fun model to use and looks very impressive as a centerpeice to the army.

Wraithguard are a little tricker to use outside of allies for transport, otherwise throwing them in a Wraithhost formation and give them wave serpents for essentially 18" movement with battlefocus is powerful since they all have titan killing weapons but this option is expensive points wise... throw in Eldrad for infiltration to make people cry.

The Crimson Death formation is another favorite of mine, rerollable jink saves and 4+ normal cover saves with special rules making them better against other flyers.

Hornets are another amazing option, its a FW unit with soo much S8 ap2 dakka it would make an Ork blush.

Warp Spiders are the recent 'hotness' for the Eldar scene, but please remember that they are only effective when you have a plethora of LOS blocking terrain, outside of that they have outstanding mobility

Swooping Hawks, are fast, all have haywire grenades, drop bombs when they deepstrike, don't scatter when they deepstrike, can attack flyers by moving over them and have 18" movement

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Of course there is the Seercouncil + another 2 farseers and an Autarch with shad of Anaris.

19+d6 warp charges, the ability to get invisibility/ 2+ rerollable armour, cover saves and a 4+ rerollable invulnerable save. Every member has a fleshbane/armourbane weapon, reroll failed psykic tests with runes of the farseer and ignore wounds caused by perils of the warp, the ability to drop ap3 fleshbane, haywire apocalyptic blasts, psychic shrieks, fearless, nerfs to enemy leadership etc etc

Thanks for the replies so far.

We were given some metal warp spiders and will definitely use one squad.

Likewise we'll paint up the Dire Avengers and three Wave Serpents. Purchase-wise, we will get a couple of boxes of Jetbikes as they look good to model.

Tempted by the Wraithguard. Think we'll leave the Wraithknight for the time being - know it's super-effective, but we have two stompas and not too much space....

Will spend some time reading the new codex and come back for more specific ideas. But please fell free to add more suggestions in the meantime!
