Wanted to bring a fun list with a main centre piece model just because I bit the bullet and ordered one. Going to be using this against Space Wolves with Thunderwolves and stuff, fully expect to get rekt but I've given up playing for the win/crushing my opponent these days so I'm just in the spirit of plopping models down on the table and having a beer or two and generally being a good sport, as an Ork player should be.

That said, I don't want to be curbstomped turn three and stuff like that so I would like to optimise the list. Could you tell me where I could optimise what I do have in the list? Trying to limit myself to one CAD just because I don't care about spamming detachments for extra stuff these days.

Ork CAD:

Big Mek w/ Kustom Force Field, Da Fixer Upper = 100

19x Ork Boyz w/ Boss Nob, Boss Pole, Power Klaw, 'eavy armour = 240
19x Ork Boyz w/ Boss Nob, Boss Pole, Power Klaw, 'eavy armour = 240

5x Tankbustas w/ 3x Bomb Squigs, Trukk w/ Reinforced Ram = 115

I would swap out the mek for 2 pain boys for your ork mobs. with heavy armor and FnP they become much more resilient, and opponents have to start dedicating some more serious firepower besides bolters to clear out your boys.


What is the resoning for the bombsquigs and the burna meks?

Meks to repair the gorkanaut from inside I assume? Also that is why I assume you are taking the Big Mek with KFF and fixxer uppers? But thats an awful lot of points and supporting units that can be tar pitted easily.

I like the list honestly and wish more people went back to making lists for fun. Would dropping a deffkopta and some upgrades and a couple boyz off one squad to get you a megaboss with a lucky stikk help? They're so fun to have tanking for an ard boy squad and would take a little focus off of your naut

Might be able to shave a few points by going to a Morkanaut instead and having the KFF on that...would mean that I can protect the Battlewagons and Trukks to some extent, but would lose out on Rampage and the Deffstorm shoota? Tell me your thoughts on Mork vs Gork.

If I did go to Morkanaut, I could totally drop the Big Mek and two boyz and have two Pain Boyz attached to those squads. Would be able to find points for the last Mek somewhere.
Bomb Squigs have always performed for me (BS5 in Orks!) but against Skimmers they don't do much. Meks do go inside. That's why I liked the Gorkanaut's Rampage, since I should be getting 5-7 attacks per turn sorta.

I'm not too sure about 'eavy armour and a MegaCharacter, because anything that the MegaCharacter can't tank (eg AP2) then the 'eavy armour lads probably won't be able to take either. Now if I dropped 'eavy armour I could totally fit him in, problem is that he can't run and charge and I forgo Painboyz in both squads, so one of the squads probably looks like a stiff breeze could take them out (I have a fair few Wyverns in my meta and some other Ignore Cover stuff).

It is a cool list, worth trying.
Good question Mork or Gork.When taking the gork, Megaforcefield would be better, the idea of a big mek inside is cool ,yeah but expensive.

Yeah, not sure if I can take the Megaforcefield while inside a CAD, think I need the Ghaz detachment for that :/

Would probably drop a Deffkopta if I could take it. Maybe take a Grot Oiler on the Big Mek to make up points. Heck I could just drop the Bomb Squigs lol.

It's way more fun when you're not trying to be comp! So much more stuff to use.

Alright there is the list in the OP and also this list that I've made using your suggestions

Ork CAD:
Mek = 15 (burnaboyz)

Painboy = 50
Painboy = 50

18x Boyz w/ 'eavy armour, Boss Nob, Boss Pole, Power Klaw = 230
18x Boyz w/ 'eavy armour, Boss Nob, Boss Pole, Power Klaw = 230

2x Burnas, 3x Meks = 80 (in Morkanaut)
5x Tankbustas w/ Trukk, Reinforced Ram = 100
5x Tankbustas w/ Trukk, Reinforced Ram = 100

Deffkopta w/ Rokkit = 30

Now, with this list I've got 35 points spare, possibly more if I use the Gorkanaut and sacrifice the invulnerable save. How would you go about using the rest of the 35 points? Or any changes the list you might make as it is currently?

Personally I prefer the gorkanaut for killing things. Personally I would drop all but the big mek going inside of it and only purchase the extra armor so that it can't be stunned. The fixer uppers are good enough to keep it moving if it gets immobilized or loses some guns but I wouldn't load it up because it can be one shot so better to keep it semi cheap. This is just my perspective from having used the naughts excessively though. They normally live for a few turns with at least half hull points and then randomly explode. The morkanaut is full utility while the gork normally does all the damage.

My Armies:
Orks about 15000-16000 mostly unpainted but slowly being worked on
Militarum Tempestus about 2000 points just built
Inquisition about 2000 points unpainted
Officio Assassinorum 570 unpainted

Interesting. I would have thought that more Meks inside would keep it alive for longer due to more Mek Repairs but can't argue against experience!

An extra mek is a better investment than grot riggers, if you've got the choice between the two. IWND is nice but the Mek can also repair weapons or immobilised results on top of hull points for 5 points cheaper, or the same cost with an oiler. I also prefer the Gorkanaut generally, for the deffstorm mega shooter and rampage.
