Hi All,

I've recently acquired a few guard units, around 1000 points, and after getting the codex I have no clue where to start next! So many choices.

I've had a couple of games with the below which has worked quite well - playing combined infantry squads backfield and issuing first rank second rank orders, conscripts advancing for close objectives and general tarpitting of dangerous things while i take aim with the russ and wait for Vernon Vendetta to turn up, and vet and special weapons squads picking out threats in the mean time in chimeras up one flank or another

I'm looking to get to a rounded 1850 quite mobile list rather than the standard gunline, perhaps with a blob of punisher leman russes at the centre ( I love them even through i accept they may not that competitive).

My meta is primarily orks (complete with scary stompa at this points mark!) and demons with the occasional tyranid player wondering into the fray.

Advise very much appreciated!

I would suggest at least one more Russ to accompany the one you already have, and wyvren, you can never go wrong with wyvren, especially against nids and orks. You really should be adding in some special weapons on your CCS, and I would move those flamers into your infantry squads and not take SWSs they are too expensive, yes even at 30 pts for BS3 and only 6 models with mandatory special weapons...they die too easily due to lake of doctrines/transports.

For mobile guard your best bet without going FW is mech vets if you must have obsec. With FW you can get drop troops to DS in. The most mobile guard however is in flyers. Which can be very effective if you're into that type of play, and as long as your opponents are not spamming skyfire units.
