Im a new tau player as I've said in my other posts, and I'm a bit confused about the recon drone. It is built to look like it has a burst cannon, but I checked the codex and apparently there are no rules about the burst cannon. Could you guys please explain it to me?

Check the drone entry in the wargear section. Short answer, yes it has a burst cannon. and it has a homing beacon.

If you got a unit of pathfinders and have one rolling around, I'd happily swap a NoS tactical support turret for it. (I'd like to have 3 for my Ranged Support Cadre.)

The Recon Drone is one of the coolest looking drones available. What is regrettable is that it isn't useful in a competitive setting. For fluff purposes though its amazing!

This thing has got to be the oddest looking drone in the codex, too. It just doesn't look anything like any other drone, which makes the stupid thing offend my aesthetic sensibilities. Just for that reason I've never tried to take one.

If you look at the bigger drones in forge world, you can see where it draws inspiration from. Especially the Ramora Stealth Drone. When I first saw it, it looked like a sized down version.
