I was putting together my Militarum Tempestus Command Squad. One of the scions can take a medikit to grant Feel No Pain on the unit.

Does he still get to keep his Hot Shot Lasgun?

I believe the specific wording is "1 model may take a medikit". It makes no mention of replacing the hot-shot lasgun (at least, I don't think it does).

The main reason I ask is that the model pieces for the medic have him holding the medikit in one hand, and a syringe/saw gun thingy in the other.

So I just glued a hot-shot lasgun (there's some extra pieces with the guns in pouches) to his backpack.

The Astra Militarum codes just says that 1 model may carry a medi-pack so he dosent give up his gun for it.

The cadian CCS sprue has a backpack for the medic.., I just used that and gave the guy normal weapons. I didnt like the look of him holding bandages and stuff...

I converted the cadian 'holding a bandage' into cadian 'reading a map'.

The bandages might work well as part of a diorama, but looks a little odd to me on its own.
