I played Space Wolves as my first army many years ago (though it has long since been sold) and feel like returning to the Fang! However, I am still struggling to get my head around the formations and making a workable list. Back when I used to play it was Long Fangs with Rune Priests & Grey Hunter spam, though now I really like the Thunderwolf Cavalry and Wulfen, as well as the gunships.

This will be my "casual" army, so I'm not after anything ultra competitive. I mainly want to include things I like, which is Wulfen, TWC, Wolf Guard Terminators, Stormfang/Stormwolf Gunships, Lone Wolves and the new Dreadnoughts. For a 1500 point starting list I was aiming for this:

Deathpack
Wolf Lord - Thunderwolf, Runic Armour, Fangsword of the Ice Wolf, Storm Shield, Digital Weapons, Meltabombs (WARLORD)
Grey Hunters x10 - Rhino, 2x Plasma Guns
Thunderwolf Cavalry x3 - Pack Leader with TH/SS, 2x SS/CCW

Wulfen Murderpack
Wulfen x5 - PL with Claws & Grenade Launcher, 1x TH/SS, 2x Axe, 1x Claws
Wulfen x5 - PL with Claws & Grenade Launcher, 1x TH/SS, 2x Axe, 1x Claws
Stormwolf Gunship

Should be 1500 on the dot. I would be expanding using the Company of the Great Wolf most likely (to include Terminators and Dreadnoughts).

Thoughts?

Too low model count in my opinion. You use a lot of expensive units and the gunships not arriving will cost you the game, also turn three charge with wulfen at best. If you are going to use even one stormwolf always include a way to manipulate reserves or put wulfens in pods through fast attack slots.

In your place i would go either death pack + SW CAD or Company of the great wolf + SW CAD for some objective secure units.

I would go with something like that
