Hi, I am usually a 40k player and have been looking to try a WFB army for a very long time. This will be my 1st attempt at Fantasy and I have always been in love with the imagry of the Dark Elves. Am trying to keep my expenses down and have got my hands on the last Dark Elf Batallion box set at my local store so i am planning my army around 12 Dreadspears, 16 Darkshards, 20 Corsairs and 5 CoK. Anything else can be changed.

Supreme Sorceress
Lvl 4+Tome of Furion+Endurance Talisman

Master
Hvy Arm+Sea Dragon Cloak+Shield+Cold One+ChillBlade

Master
Lance+Hvy Arm+Enchanted Shield+BSB+Cold One
Darkspearsx32
Full Command+Flaming

Corsairsx20
2xHand Weapons+Full Command

Darkshardx16
Musician

Shadesx5
Light Arm

Shadesx5
Light Arm

Cold One Knights x8
Full Command+Razor standard

Cold One Chariot

War Hydra

RBT

RBT

Warlocks x5
Champion

Bloodwrack Shrine

The Plan is to have the lvl4 with the large unit of Dark shards and throw the Shrine in there aswell for good measure. The Cok + chariot on one flank, the Hydra + corsairs on the other while other units run distractions.

Any ideas what can be changed to strengthen the list? I havent really been sold on the Bloodwrack shrine but dobt know what I'd take instead of it. Another Hydra maybe?

Any and all suggestions and ideas are more than welcome.
Many thanks in advance.

Your character load outs are pretty good though one of the masters should be a BSB to better your chances of not getting screwed by stupidity with your knights and chariot. You are also probably going to want a dispel scroll.

Also Taking great weapons on the shades can be brutal. You will still usually be striking first and with re-rolling 1s to wound you will watch units melt. great for being annoying in the flank but need to be at least 10 strong. You're units of 5 only really work if they have xbows.

What Lore were you thinking on the lvl4?

Edit: I see your one master is a BSB now, woops disregard that bit.

Fantasy: Tomb Kings, Dark Elves, Wood Elves, Lizardmen, Daemons
40k: Daemon Hunters (GK,MT allied), Tallarn Armored Battle Group, Night Lords.
Firestorm Armada/Firestorm Planetfall: Dindrenzi

If you want to go more competitively I would suggest the following changes.

Drop the chillblade, it sucks. Take the Ogre Blade.

Put the BSB in the Cold One Knights, give him the glittering scales and dawnstone and a lance.

Increase the Corsairs to 30

Drop the Dreadspears, and replace them with 2 units of 5 Dark Riders with xbows and shields.

Drop the Shades all together, or if you want to keep them at least drop the light armour as it's practically useless.

Cold Ones are mostly ok, I usually run 10 with 2 hero's.

You should always run 2 chariots together. One just aint enough.

You should always run 2 Hydras together, one usually isn't enough. Also you didn't give them Flaming Breath which is an absolute must have.

2 RBT's won't accomplish much. Take 4 or don't take any at all.

Warlocks are amazing, but they don't need a champion unless you are running 10 with some hero's. Also known as a "lockstar"

Bloodwrack Shrine is pretty bad. You would be better off taking almost anything over this.

Ok 1stly thanks for the advice. Could replace the bloodwrack shrine with another hydra easy amd use the extra 15pts to upgrade the enducance talisman 5+ward to a preservation talisman 4+. The 2 masters go with the coldones. Will drop chill blade for ogre blade. And that gives me a few points to play with. Will post an updated list shortly as i have a few point to play around with now.

Well to start off you can save points by not giving your master with the Ogre Blade heavy armour. Light armour+shield+Sea Dragon Cloak+Cold One already brings his armour save to 1+ which is the best you can get.

The second Master is illegal. He can only have 1 piece of magic armour and you have two, not only that but he has 60 points of magic items and can only take 50. Once again, i'll say just give him the dawnstone and glittering scales.

I still think your corsair unit his too small. I think 30 should be the minimum.

I think you should either drop the chariot and buy 2 more Bolt Throwers, or Drop the bolt Throwers and buy another chariot. You can try to find points in the army somewhere. You could drop the banner of eternal flame for example.

Dropping champions from units without characters is also a pretty good way to shave points. Squeezing in some dark riders at this point would probably still be a good idea. They are way faster and better at re-directing than shades when it comes to dealing with chaff and charge blocking. Knights and chariots do not like taking charges.
