Hi, was wondering if this is a good 600 pts Eldar list, new to playing Eldar and not sure if it would work or not. So, the list is:

HQ - Farseer
Upgrades - Faolchu's Wing, Singing Spear, Spirit Stone of Anath'lan
Total - 150 pts

Elites - Howling Banshees (4 + 1 Exarch)
Upgrades - Exarch has the Executioner and a Shuriken Pistol
Total - 85 pts

Troops - Dire Avengers (4 + 1 Exarch)
Upgrades - Exarch has Power Weapon and Shimmershield
Total - 95 pts

Dire Avengers (4 + 1 Exarch)
Upgrades - Exarch has Power Weapon and Shimmershield
Total - 95 pts

Fast Attack - Wave Serpent (Dedicated Transport for Howling Banshees)
Upgrades - Turret Weapon replaced with twin-linked Bright Lances, Tank Hull weapon is Shuriken Cannon, Crystal Targeting Matrix, Ghostwalk Matrix, Star Engines
Total - 175 pts

So now that you've seen my list, tell me what you think about it, how it can be improved what armies it'll be good / bad against.
Thank you

Hello there and welcome to Eldar! Typically a good way to start these conversations is to give us a base on what you hope to accomplish with this list. For example, is this a starter list as you are new to the game, or perhaps you're just looking to keep up with you local group of buddies, or the other extreme of wanting to play in some kind of tournament?

Generally speaking, I love Farseers but find the Wing upgrade to be disappointing. Jetbikes work wonders for them. Banshees are an alright unit, but as the Wave Serpent is not an assault transport the squad is unable to disembark and assault on the same turn. Typically this leaves them too vulnerable to be used in any serious way.

Good luck!

Cieged speaks good advice.

Depending on your meta depends on how banshees perform. I've never found them to be any use at all. They are 'alright' as mentioned, but when compared to the other units in the codex they're poor at best.

I agree 100% with what Cieged said about the wing. Compared to 15 points for a Jetbike I think it's an awful choice. A Jetbike will get you so much more for so much less.

I personally don't think the avenger shield upgrade is worth it for 5 man squads. 10 man squads supported by a seer with fortune is suddenly quite a tough unit with a decent damage output.

But to direct you further it would be useful to know what kind of direction you want to go in, why you've selected the units you've selected, what you're local meta is etc. Are the banshees in because you own them for example?

No matter what we're all here to help!!

The two above posters have covered pretty much everything I'd say. I just have two small additional notes:
- A wave serpent taken as a dedicated transport for a unit counts as the same battlefield role as the unit it was purchased for, so it should be listed under Elites with the Banshees on your list. If it is purchased on it's own (i.e. NOT as a dedicated transport) then it counts as a Fast Attack choice. This is actually important, because if you were to purchase a wave serpent as a dedicated transport for the Dire avengers then the Wave Serpent would get the Objective Secured special rule. You could still start the transport empty and load up the banshees on the first turn with no penalty to movement.
- Crystal Targeting Matrix isn't overly worth it. It's a neat little gimmick to throw your wave serpent forwards on the first turn and still be able to shoot a weapon, but you're basically paying 25 points for a single shot that you may or may not take with a weapon you already have. Those points could probably be better spent elsewhere.
