Hi everyone,

I have some questions regarding magnetizing some models. I'm been searching through the forum and googling and I've found the answers to most of my questions, but I kind of want a little guidance from people who've done it a lot.

What I've got is a thousand Lord of the Rings models, so we're talking 25mm round bases and 40mm round bases. The 25mm round bases are split between slotta and non-slotta. I want to use the LotR models for Kings of War, so I bought a ton of steel movement trays. Now, I want to continue to use the models for Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game, so I'm looking to magnetize them without increasing their height (with washers or magnetic circles, etc)

I am going to be painting and basing the steel movement trays, just so they don't look dumb, so I'd like the magnets to be powerful enough to "get through" a layer of basing materials and paint.

Now, from what I understand, in order to do so, the best thing to do would be:

1. Get a thousand 4mm x 2mm disc/round magnets.
Is this correct? The "depth" of the "hollow" portion of GW 25mm slotta and non slotta rounds, and 40mm rounds, fits a 2mm thick magnet perfectly? and the 4mm diameter means it could easily fit to either side of a slotta, or in the center of a non-slotta base?

2. What about power?
Most Lord of the Rings models are plastic, and even the metal ones are not very heavy. Is N35 enough? Or should I consider N50? Or just use two N35 on really heavy models (like metal trolls)?

thanks for any help and guidance!
