If they land on opposing players troops, they mishap yes? They don't do damage like massive missiles falling from the sky?

If the player positions them on a unit, and it doesn't scatter off them, it will mishap.

If the player positions it not on a unit / impassible terrain, and then scatters onto a unit, the Inertial Guidance rule (see the Drop Pod unit entry as stated by Desubot) comes into play.

Whilst it would be thematic to damage units, it would be terrible from a game balance point of view.

Thanks guys, yea I read the rules for deep striking, however my mate has been saying they do damage, hence I thought it might be a special rule for drop pods, and I don't have any drop pod rule books at hand.

You'd think they do, given it's a huge hunk of metal landing on someone's head, but no.

The closest 40k rules has to that is the Mawloc, which can deepstrike on an enemy and instead nom them rather than mishap. But pods nope.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

I kinda wish they did if they were more expensive. problem being with in the current rules if you did tank shock in and didnt clear enough space your guys couldnt disembark so would die instantly which would be bad :/

Maybye he is thinking of the Spear of Sicarius formation. They do damage when they land within 3 inches of an enemy. (formation requires ultramarines chapter tactics,13 drop pods, and a massive amount of points to utilize it)
