Hi, I was wondering is there's any rule that tells you how to roll for models that have random numbers of attacks, like beasts of nurgle. Their attack characteristic says "D6+1" but does this mean each model makes D6+1 attacks or that the unit rolls a D6 and then all models make that number of attacks (+1)?

Same for screamers of tzeentch with their slash attacks, if five models move over an enemy unit the enemy unit would suffer 5D3 hits, but would you roll a d3 then multiply that by 5 or would you roll 5D3s then add them up??

And evidence for how you should do this?

Thanks!

Unsure about Beasts of Nurgle specifically, cuz I don't see anything in it's rules that talk about it. Chaos Spawns, a similar unit, actually has a rule that states it must roll one dice for the entire unit. But none of the other units you mentioned (or ones that are similar) have this rule.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

There is no longer a general rule for having multiple random attacks from a unit. In previous editions they had a rule for unit shooting multiple random shots (like Lootas) and it was to roll a single die for the whole unit but that rule is gone.

That's gone now though. So other then specific units having their own rule for their random attacks (like Chaos Spawn) there is nothing to go on. Personally I prefer rolling multiple dice instead of a single die and multiplying it because it gives you more normalized result (instead of huge swings in damage output)

Unless the rules for the unit specify to roll once for the entire unit then you roll individually for each model. For example the Screamers do D3 hits per screamer for slashing attacks so you roll individual D3s to see how many hits each screamer makes.
