I've never done one of these before, but let's see how it goes.

I got started on a new army recently. It's a mix of Skitarii and Cult Mechanicus. I got into it because I really liked the Kastelan robots, and got some at Christmas. After assembling the robots I dived in and bought the Skitarii "Start Collecting", and I've been assembling and painting those since then.

Please let me know what you think

First up is a squad of Skitarii Vanguard. They're almost complete, with just a few tidy up spots and pieces of black to finish. I'll come back to those a bit later, I think.

The HQ and Omnispex carrying Vanguard. I'm going to go with really grey looking skin wherever it is exposed, to represent the damage done by the radiation from their weapons. Need to lighten it up a bit from this point though.

I'm not very good at painting energy weapons right now. I think I'll come back to the plasma caliver guy to see if I can make that any better.

Here's my first Kastelan. It's still WIP, I think I want to darken it back down a little bit, and I want to apply some exposed paint, like they have on the boxed version. The pose is based on a piece of artwork from the Cult Mechanicus codex, where the Kastelan is pushing its shoulder forward so it can fire.

The gun hasn't been painted at all, and I've magnetised it so I can choose between the Incendine Combustor and the Heavy Phosphor blaster.

The power fists are magnetised too, so the Phosphor blasters can be used there too. It was difficult to magnetise these due to the way the components were made, but I was able to cut out a section of the plastic, fill the inside with a model filler and glue a magnet in place. It worked out really well, I think!

Its all very interesting dude
That mech is a little weird looking kinda reminds me of a 1950's B-Movie.
I'm sure it'll turn out looking great though

Thanks! They're weird aren't they? They remind me of Fallout's protectrons, so I totally agree with you!

I'm not happy with the way mine currently looks, but hopefully some washing and weathering will make it look better.
