Ugh...this guy took me about 16 days from opening the box to finished lol. So damn pleased with how he came out though lol

Yes hes not on the normal base. The area of the base is the same, but this one is oval shaped. Every single pose i see this guy in his toes are poking over the edge and that bugs the hell out of me. So i went to walmart and found one of those cheapo wooden oval things in the arts n crafts section. Works great lol
























Tbh i was hesitant on the gold on the back of the gun rack. I paint yellow under the gold paint first and before i put the gold on wow that looked hideous lol. It came out a lot better than i thought and thank god because those were a pain to paint the edges for for some reason.
There is no OSL because i do not have an airbrush, and after doing it on my Riptides and Ghostkeels i really dont want to do that again. This guy would require a great deal of OSL and i really, really dont wanna do it by hand again lol.

i dont get the buzz lightyear joke. Yeah its the same colors but not even close in the same style.

The colors are chosen via color pallet contrasts. Just happens that theyre the same ones Buzz uses.

That looks awesome! The colour scheme reminds me a bit of Evangelion.

Actually i just met a new tau player in my area that does have that color scheme lol. Personally i think the neon green mixed with dark purple looks odd but he somehow pulled it off.

Course i cant claim my scheme isnt odd at all lol. I did it purely because i both like purple and until recently ive never seen any purple tau, so i wanted to be unique.

I think your problem is not the colours but the semitry"how ever you spell it damn auto check broke"

With the purple being the brightness it is with no depth and the white being so bright along with the darker greens. It doesnt give the model depth or a balance of colours.

You need to blend the green into the purple more with a medium colour add some different tone to the primary colours. And some highlights. Also you wnet with a camo scheme with the white and purple and green for details you want to stand out duel colour camo never works try adding another to break the patern.

Bit rude, man. Vineheart wasn't asking people to tell him what's wrong with the paintscheme. I don't see any reason he should. The coloring is clean and crisp, and it's actually quite nice looking. Like someone above me said, it's very Evangelion. All in all it's an excellent tabletop model.

And im not against criticism, everyone has their opinion. I could have easily added a lot more to this model, but 1) i find it really difficult to highlight purple, so i stopped bothering (the green is highlighted though) and 2) like i said in the OP, OSL would look great on him but i really really dont want to do that stuff by hand again lol.

My scheme tends to get complete opposite reactions. Either "WTF is with that scheme??!?" or "Dude, thats cool" lol i never get the casual "nice paintjob" response.

Man that model is so freaking epic, and that base and pose just make it look ginormous, agghh so cool!! That low angle photography makes it look absolutely beastly.

I also thought of Eva Unit-01 when I saw the color scheme

My nit-picks: the green is a bit streaky in places, like it's inconsistent in its transparency, not as solid as the other colors.
The gold plates on the top of the back-mounted canons looks a bit flat, could use some more highlighting/shading IMO (gold seems to be one of the hardest colors to do this effectively with).

Other than that, love this one, big props

This is why I avoid making comments on painted models lol. I am not sure how but people say I come off rude when commenting on models. I am use to people picking out every small detail until something is as perfect as one can make it.

I may need to add to my sig I mean no offence what ever you paint is perfect the way it is because your happy with it, which is all that matters.

But to be fair I thought it sounded a bit harsh aswell and did PM him and explain it rather then pulling the cowards way of removing comment :p.

Weirdly enough the way to get a darker hue for purple is dark blue base into a purple.... some times colours dont make sense lol.

Is it just me or does your 'purple' look a bit like 'blue', or am I colour blind?
