Don't have a full list I can offer but I have found a Warboss with Da Lucky Stikk with some Nobz to be very effective in smaller point balltes.

How many Nobz do you think would be good for a 500 point game

Small Squads are definitely the best way to go. Try to use most of you points for the classic Slugga Boyz (although some prefer Shoota Boyz I love assaulting!) and a Nob with Power Klaw (or at least a Big Choppa at 5pts there is never a reason to take nothing) and Bosspole. In filled out Trukks moving full speed at the enemy front lines Boyz can be great. If you can use them to multi-assault and tie up multiple units to give slower units like Meganobz time to get into CC then even better. I recently did this against a CSM player's Forgefiend and Maulerfiend with a turn 2 Waaargh which meant that the Forgefiend only got off a single round of shooting and the Maulerfiend was taken down by my Power Klaw wielding Nob which then pilled into the Forgefiend and finished him off in the CSM player's turn.

What models do you have at the moment?

Don't know what you got but if you're looking I would get this:

https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Start-Collecting-Orks

Start Collecting! Orks

I think it clocks in just under 500 points and comes with an awesome formation where once during the game all units in this formation get to make an attack in the movement phase in addition to fighting again in the assault phase.

I think it cuts around 20% off the model costs too.

Then with that I'd probobly buy 2 ork trukks - one for the nobs and one for the boyz

Ya I think you should run this since you have the models: (its called a 'Painmob')

The only one you don't have is the painboy, just use your bigmek model since he's not really useful to you right now.

Then take a combined arms detachment so you can take a warboss, couple more boyz units, your bomba and your kanz

Take the battlewagon as a transport for your painboy, nobz and warboss

When you get stuk in combat on your turn do the 'Pile on da Pain!" and harvest your opponents tears.

I'd give your Deff dread a couple extra arms, or 1 extra arm and a flamer since its not good at shooting.
