Need to cut 30pts but where?
First i was told that the hwt counts as 2 men, so then i have 15 men per infantry squad. Base 10 with autoguns+ 1 command vox (or meltagun) + 2 meltaguns and 1 hwt =15 men. I was told to skip the sub flak armor.
Interestingly, a hwt team in an infantry squad does not get taxed 7pts like the heavy slot support squad of 55pts for 3 autocannons. 55pts vs 48pts (16x3=48) so I decided to sneak in 1 per the 9 infantry squads to save 47pts.
Next i noticed that each hwt pricing was wierd. a squad of 3 is 55pts. A squad of 6 is 115pts. 115÷6=19.166pts. 55÷3=18.33pts. So that means it was better to take msu hwt. So I took 4 squads of 3 to essentially save 4 pts. But i have convinced myself i some how saved 10pts illogicaly. 2x6 hwt with ac=230pts vs 4x3 hwt with ac =220pts. For better or for worse, 1 hwt model dying caused a ld check vs a squad of 6 needing 2 models to break moral. 2 wounds vs 4 wound threshold to break moral.
I decided to ditch lascannons for ac to have ghetto anti air capabilities and have ample ap4 to hurt certain crons, tau, scouts, skitarii, orks. In total, i have 21 ac but 9 of which are recurring and most often moving and snap firing. I chose to rely on the 24 melta guns to provide anti vehicle role. I need to rely on outflanking after they gwt killed. I initially wanted to use 8-9 plasmaguns and 16-18 meltaguns but Tomb King advice was to take no plasmaguns.
This list allows me to meet the requirements of 13x9=117 infanty models and instead of the initial 20x12=240 or 15x12=180 i thought i needed to complete infantry squads. Therefore i was able to cut so many models. Combined with the 9 hwts I have 126 recurring models. The other requirements are 2x5 command squads and 10 mutant rabbles.
You probably also thinking, but aren't hwt expensive? Well not for me because I am scratch building them with my existing havocs with autocannons and using a bolt action soldier and putting them on the large base. Btw what size base do hwt use? 40mm?
edit: google search says hwt are 60mm bases. Just bought 20 for $8! I will make that 21th one outta something. I am so freaking excited!!! I havent been this excited since I bought all those imperial knights thinking I was going to be unstoppable! Then if fought people and they wreck them turn 2...
