*bursts though room with axe* HEEEAAARRRS JHONNY!!!

Ok so had an interesting discussion about some rules within the boon chart for CSM that I want to get a few opinions on.

Had a Lord in a challenge with a Herald of Khorne from the Daemons book. Lord kills the Herald and is on one wound then rolls the bloated result on the Boon chart.

Now as the Champion of Chaos rules states that you must roll after you kill a character in the challenge, this happens before combat resolution, so since those wounds are restored before combat resolution would those recovered wounds still go towards combat resolution or because those wounds were restored, those wounds would be negated since by the time it comes to combat resolution there was no wound loss since the Lord recovered them in time before the combat resolution step?

As the rule book states: "To decide who has won the combat, total up the number of unsaved Wounds
inflicted by each side onto their opponents."

As the wounds restored were still unsaved originally, I would assume that they would still count towards your losses for that combat. They were restored, but not "saved".

To go one step further, the Dark Eldar FAQ, also implies that Wounds negated by means other than Armor/Cover/Invuln saves are still unsaved Wounds. Including FNP.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Which in Determine Assault Results doesn't matter

"Wounds that have been negated by saving throws or special rules do not count towards determining who won the combat. Neither do Wounds in excess of a model’s Wounds characteristic; only the Wounds actually suffered by enemy models count"

So wounds not suffered because of FNP don't count towards combat resolution.

True. But in the specific case of Bloated, Souleater, It Will Not Die, Regeneration, etc, etc. the wound has still been 'suffered'.

Even if the model has since recovered it, it still originally took the wound, hence it counts for anything that triggered off suffering the wound (like combat resolution, concussive, soul blaze, etc).

It's theoretically possible for a model to end the assault turn on more wounds than it started and still lose combat.
