Just curious if any of you gents use em. If so, what for and with what kit?
My buddy just traded me 5 (3 with GLs) for my leftover Death Coy and I was wondering what their best uses are. Most of the guys at my LGS run Xenos so the 6/4 on the GLs should be pretty handy coming on from outflank. Maybe a meltabomb on the sarge... Worth it to put a locator beacon on him?
Thx in advance.

Ya know, they're the one unit in the codex I've just never used. They seem to suffer from that in other threads in other forums I've seen.

Scout Bikes suffer from being "not as good as the other" FA slots. Regular Bikes make solid "Troops" once you take Chapter Master on a Bike.
Yeah, a Meltabomb would go a long way. Locator beacon is useful if you already use lots of Deep Strike, otherwise not so much.

They do pretty good in 10th co. TFs. Low cost, moderate firepower, fast with all sorts of rules to get around.
The beacon lets you pull some fun tricks. You can scout move and get it way downfield before your first turn stuff drops.
The AGLs are well worth it. Nothing like rapid fireing krack grenades into the backs of tanks.
The days of the turn one melta torpedo are gone, but melta bombs are stil not a bad idea.

I'll definitely have to try the vehicle hunter GLs next Saturday. I'm up against either IG mech vets or DE so either way it should be interesting. Yes, BTW, I do run a lot of DS units. I run my BA models as red Raven guard since the BA dex is smegma tier. I'll try proxying a second unit, but with locator beacons and see how it works. I forsee either melta-fried russet or blackened obsec units. Well see if they can earn their keep amongst all the other FA goodness

Their one claim to fame is that they have the only locator beacons that can start the game close enough to the enemy to let you get a no-scatter charge off with a Skyhammer formation or similar. Nothing else in the army does that.

One thing for Ravenguard scout bikes: they get shrouded first turn. Jink gives you a 4+ cover save. With a 2+ cover, it’s a lot safer to push forward, even if you go second.
