So, in another thread, I mentioned a Dire Avenger Exarch I want to kitbash. Specifically, with 2 Tonfas(/billy clubs), as a Power Maul.

The model doesn't have the option to taxes 2x Power Weapons, but can take Power Weapon + pistol. So the model would have that rules-wise (and the pistol would be modelled).

Would anyone have a problem with that? I wouldn't think so, as the pistol gives him a second CC weapon anyways, and 2 identical weapons would be functionally the same as one + pistol. The only variance would be if he dueled Jain Zar. Which would be hilareously terrible anyways.

Sounds like a great conversion. I for one would have no issues playing against it, as it would be modeled such that there are no rules conflicts or ambiguities.

Such a minor divergence from WYSWYG is easily covered by the Rule of Cool.

And frankly, from a loose WYS POV, he’s still fine. What I see is a guy who’s going to hit me a bunch of times with a stick. What I get? The beating.

It’s not like he’s geared for CC but shooting deathbeams or anything. I’m still basically getting what I see.

There is usually a spare version of most weapons in the plastic Eldar kits. Stick the pistol at the belt, and do what you like with the arms.
What would an Eldar power maul look like, anyway? Eldar are not a brute-force kind of race, so two smaller clubs makes more sense.

There are a couple pistol options, but I believe the best is the arm-mounted one. I'll probably move it further up the arm, though.

I've always thought of Power Mauls as Power [Blunt Weapon]s. So Tonfas work, as well as staves, maces, cudgels, hammers, etc.

In fact, another DA Exarch I want to do is Staff/shimmershield, but that is 100% within the rules, so I didn't ask.

why would I have a problem with that if you don't have a problem if/when I don't use GW paints?

Some of the creativity within the hobby has disappeared for several reasons, and that is to the detriment of the hobby as a whole.
You should always build and paint your models as you see fit, just make sure your opponent knows what he's up against and all is good.

I've been playing a while, my first model was a lead marine and my first White Dwarf was bound with staples
