Ok, so I made a list I thought would do pretty well in a semi-competitive setting, the only problem is I'm not sure what Chapter Tactic would work best with it.

CAD- 1499

HQ-260
-Captain-140
---Terminator Armour, Chainfist, Storm Bolter, Auspex
-Chaplain-120
---Terminator Armour, Arcanum, Storm Bolter
Elites-409
-Sternguard-234
---Power Fist, 5x Bolter, 2x Heavy Flamer
-----Rhino w/ Storm Bolter
-Terminator Assault Squad- 175
---5x Lightning Claws
Troops-420
-Tac Squad- 210
---Melta-bombs, Power Axe, Multi-Melta, Flamer
-----Drop Pod
-Tac Squad- 210
---Melta-bombs, Power Axe, Multi-Melta, Flamer
-----Drop Pod
Fast Attack- 150
-Razorback- 75
--Lascannon, TL-Plasma Gun
-Razorback- 75
--Lascannon, TL-Plasma Gun
Heavy Support- 260
-Land Raider Crusader- 260
---Multi Melta

So the plan is for the Captain, Chaplain, and Termies to go in the Crusader and go after heavy infantry/enemy warlord if possible.
Sternguard roll up and camp mid-field objectives.
Tac Squads DS onto back field objectives or where needed.
Razorbacks provide support against vehicles.

The only weakness I can think of is flyers. Any suggestions?
Most important, what Chapter Tactic works best here?

Thanks in advance for any and all advice

Well, given this list I don't think there's going to be any clear winner as far as what's best for your army - 'best' is heavily subjective, anyway. That being said, some recommendations:

Imperial Fists are a solid pick, because most of your army will benefit from Bolter Drill (including Sternguard firing specialist ammunition).

White Scars give you the ability to escape an unfavorable melee via Hit & Run, which is particularly nice for your Sternguard and Terminators - the Sternguard can leave and shoot, while the Terminators can leave and charge back in for the bonus attacks!

Iron Hands benefits everything in your army, but a 6+ FnP isn't very reliable. IWND is also nice on your Land Raider.

Just some thoughts.

Interesting, maybe I'll rearrange the list to have 2 CAD's

That way I can use the IH and WS chapter tactics to good use

Would thank work?

Just keep in mind that vehicles dont have chapter tactics, so the LR doesnt have IWND.

Also, if you have a squad with two chapter tactics in the same squad (ie IC joined a squad) you loose both chapter tactics. So dont mix squads if you do a double CAD.

Fisheyes is right - no chapter tactics for vehicles.

And I agree with PrinceOfMadness - Best is subjective and I would say also depends on what sort of enemy you'd be facing.

Also, I know Power Axes are nice, but considering you're not bring a character with them that can strike at initiative, it's better not to have a weapon with an 'Unwieldy' Special Rule on it. I assume you chose the Axe rather than the Sword to get the added strength for assaulting vehicles?

I'd be facing 2000 points of Orks and Chaos. The axe is there for gaks and giggles.
