Have a tourney up coming in a month or so. Love my drop pods and haven't done a drop pod assault yet in 7th ed. I know most of you will prob suggest to use regular marnies instead of angels because of the free transport in the battle company but I enjoy my little space vampires lol. I was going to run just the regular baal strike force but instead decided to do a dbl CAD because of the OBJ SEC. anyways heres my list and let me know what you all think!
(3x) 5 man assault squads with 2 meltas and 1 combi melta in pods
(2x) Furioso dreads with frag cannons and meltas in pods
(2x) Furioso dreads with frag cannons and Heavy Flamers in pods
(2x) 5 man tact squads with 1 melta and combi melta in pods
(2x) 5 man Tact squads with Heavy flamer and combi flamer in pods
(2x) 5 man stern guard squads with 1 grav gun and 2 combi gravs in pods
(2x) lvl 1 libbys and one has an auspex (only had 5 points left and figured melta bombs were redundant)
not sure where to stick libbys yet but depends what opponents have and what is a must die turn one. Nothing will probably last a round of combat but hoping to nuke any important vehicles or big monsters 1st turn and then start the mop up with the other pods as they come in. I realize I have no reroll reserves and debated on taking a marine detachment for tiggy but decided against it. anyways its a total of 13 drop pods. gives me 7 to drop first turn which should be more than enough to either a) crowd one side of the enemy deployment and screw up one flank or b) precision drop onto or close by the major threats. there most likely will be some super heavies and or gargantuans but prob at most 1 per army. I will be taking the second turn of course as it robs the opponent of a shooting phase and allows me last turn of objective grabbing if that is the case for any missions. Not to mention that 4 of the pods will be obj sec lol . not to mention having 13 armour 12 vehicles scattered around will help with contesting blocking los and such. any comments or changes would be appreciated. I will say I would like to stay above 11 pods as 6 seems like a bare min for dropping first turn. anything less seems to be to small a number . Plus having so many small units will mess up target priority for some people. Cheers!
