How do GMC move through cover?
3d6, pick the highest (RAW in the BRB)
2d6, double the highest (as per SHW movement)
3d6, double the highest (halfway between both?)
12", regardless of terrain (cannot move over units though)
Some other method of determining movement (comment below)

So I know that a lot of GMC have alternative movement methods (wings, jump packs, etc) so they never have to care about terrain. But for those who do (Tyranids, Stormsurge, etc) the question of how they move is weird.

As per the BRB, they move 3d6 and you pick the highest result. So you can only move 6" if you hit any sort of terrain, and could theoretically be handicapped down to a 1" move if you got very unlucky. This is indisputable unless I (and a number of others) have missed something.

Super heavy walkers got a GW FAQ saying that they can move 2d6", doubling the highest result.

Once upon a time, I emailed forge world asking this question about the hierophant, noting how super heavy walkers moved, and they basically said "that sounds reasonable. Do that".

So how do you guys play this? I feel like a lot of people just have the stormsurge move 12", but I'd like to know how this usually is played. If you don't have any of these models, how would you play it, or how would you tell an opponent to play it against you if faced with it?
