I didn't want to intrude into curran12's thread about picking a cat for the first time, but I feel the urge to talk about the cats that own all of us. So I started a new thread to discuss our cats, toys, food, weird cat behavior, and other things cat related.

Spoiler:

This is Jack, my wife's cat. He's a 8 year old British Bombay. The best way to describe him is Napoleon in a cat's body. He's smart, and it gets him in trouble alot. But he plays with my 6 year old son and has latched onto him. His loves include naps, meal times, and when Animal Planet is on the TV (he likes to pretend he's a panther)

Spoiler:

And this ball of special is Demetri (A.K.A Meeperkatt), my cat. 6 year old American Shorthair. We adopted him as a kitten when the lady told us noone wanted him, and he was going to be put down. They didn't even do a home check, or see if he got along with Jack, they just dropped him inside our door and left, no charge. He was small, and his hair was rough and grew out at odd angles, and he was hyperactive. In other words, he was perfect for us. He can't feel the tip of his tail, and demands to be picked up and rocked like a baby when I get home from work. All he does nowadays is cuddle my wife's belly (shes due to have a baby literally any day now), and purr to the baby, who kicks back. Now she will throw a fit in the womb if the cat is nearby but not on my wife's stomach. Yeah, my cat imprinted on my daughter before she even came out. He loves to snuggle, and watch Big Cat Diaries on Animal Planet (Jack will watch the whole channel, the Meeperkatt only watches that show)

What about you guys?

This is Muc, he'll be 2 this summer. Given to me as a kitten in a barrel by a passing local when I was on holiday. Ran off as soon as I took the lid off. I spent the next day crawling through the woods behind the house and found him after dark up in a tree after ~36 hours without food and water. He was terrified of people and would only come out at night to poop and eat. Took 3 weeks of just the two of us in the house before he would even dare to show himself.

Took him home with me anyway, now he is the most affectionate and grateful cat ever and I have no doubt he knows I saved his life. But he probably doesn't know he saved mine too.

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.

I'll have to get some photos organized.

I am Jarvis, Clara and Bilbos 'human',

Jarvis is a 7 year old 'fether'. Advertised as a lap cat he ignores everyone else in the family and loves only me. Likes to cuddle up and be held like a baby. He hates Clara and in fact is looking for a new home since he has taken chunks out of her. Other than this he is a pleasure! Oh - He was a fat whacker when we first had him. He had udders which swung when he ran.

Clara is a teeny tiny black cat with massive white whiskers. Timid as anything when we first had her. The cats protection thought she would never come around - turns out she had severe gingivitis and has subsequently had all but one of her teeth removed! She got her first nickname 'Toothless'.
She chunters to herself, quite a lot, and makes little chirping noises - earning herself the nickname 'Pip'.
You know the bulldog from Tom and Jerry -She walks like that so I unapologetically call her 'tranny'.
She is also a little psycho, gets distracted easily. She has a short attention span so she also gets called 'pinhead'.

Bilbo is another rescue cat, We got him last year as a kitten who was snatched by a rescuer from a family who though he should fend for himself for food and shelter whilst we had bitter frosts and really manky weather. Anyway. he owns our home, disgusted that we enter the same room he is currently in. Because he wasn't held or had very mush positive human contact during his early months he doesn't take to being fussed to readily. I called a fuss of him 'inappropriate touching'. since he was uncomfortable and stretched away from any contact. He is better now and actually looks like he humoring us when we scratch his ears or chin.
He has a second family somewhere - The other week he came back home from his daily travels with a blue collar on, nothing we had put on him.
He also LOVES eating spiders. Last summer he spent most of his time in the garden lapping them up. I called it his Mcdonalds.

Am I allowed in here? My cat died last year, though Im hoping to pick up a new one some time soonish...

Had three cats at one point: Minka, our first and last, and her daughters Panther and Semolina (the names sound better in german. <.< )

Minka grew up on the streets of Thailand, where we saved her from some neighbourhood kids (theyd tied some cans to her tail and chased her around the area). We fed her, and she took to sleeping in a pot on the porch. We finally let her inside when monsoon season came around (my father wouldnt let her before... hed always had mice as pets, and wasnt a huge fan of cats as a result).
She immediately snuggled up on his lap, which made it pretty hard for him to put her back outside.

This was back in early 98. In october, she had her kittens: Semolina, Panther, Tiger and Füchschen ( "little fox" ), the only male in her litter. Ive still got a picture of the kittens climbing in the christmas tree.

We gave Füchschen and Tiger to friends and kept the rest, though when we moved (around 2000-ish), Panther ran away, or was kidnapped, or run over... we never found out what happened to her. :/

Minka and Semolina moved with us, first within Thailand, then back to Germany, Austria, and again within Austria. Semolina passed away back in 2012. Breast cancer. :/
Minka held on for another three years, and then died last summer from kidney failure. Still miss the little fur balls... :(

I've got photos, but none hosted online. I'll see about fixing that.

We have 4, all moggies, and all but 1 were rescued. The one that wasn't was because we found her in a pet shop and she was the spitting image of one of my childhood cats, so I had to get her.

Ripley is a mostly white, partly turtleshell coloured cat. Super long, dense fur. We rescued her from the pound. She was actually passed her time there and I assume should have been put down, but she was still in the cage when we got there. My fiancee picked her because she was the feisty one that whacked the other kittens that came up to say hello.

Jonesy is a big ginger tomcat. We got him at a vet - he'd been surrendered due to the owners having allergies they didn't know about, and went about different vets trying to home him. He started out as a really timid cat that hid in closets, but now he's the head of the pack. He breaks up the girls when they start fighting.

Newt is the one we got from a pet shop. She's a black and white tuxedo cat. She's really active and playful, and ironically kind of overweight. She just eats anything you put in front of her, which unfortunately makes it hard to cut down her portions - she just eats the other cats food.

Ferro had a really rough time. We got her at 4 years old, and she was previously a stray. She had some serious health problems that we nursed her through (liver failure). She went through different methods of feeding - by hand with a syringe and through a feeding tube. The vet was sure she'd never eat by herself again, but the last few weeks she just started eating. We've now started calling her the Hoover, because she just vacuums down the food she's given. Vets just seen her again and is happy with her recovery and she's gaining weight.

@DutchWinsAll: That pic is great! He looks like a tough chess opponent!

I don't currently own any cats, but my parents have two, and they were partly mine before I moved out, so I'll tell you guys about them. Their names are Angel and Philippe. Angel is a pure white short haired cutie, and Philippe is white with black markings on his head, a black ear, and a black tail. He has long hair and is a pretty big cat (not fat, just large). They originally belonged to my aunt and uncle before they went on their first missionary trip to Thailand. Angel had been a stray, I think my uncle or someone he knew found her in an abandoned parking lot when she was a tiny kitten. Fortunately she was still young enough at the time that she got used to people fairly quickly. Philippe was given to my aunt by one of her friends when her cat had babies. Anyway, they became a fixture at my parents' house, and are still living there happily even though they both have to be at least 14 years old. I still enjoy seeing them whenever I visit my parents, and they enjoy seeing me. They think everyone who visits the house comes to see them.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Lost in a blizzard, somewhere near Toronto

We have two little kittens.

Our older one, Stitch, is soon to turn 5 years later this month. She was initially meant to be my dad's cat, but she ended up latching onto me, and now she follows me everywhere I go, like a faithful little puppy-cat!

Stitch's favourite things in the world include cuddling up to me at night to sleep, food, belly rubs, being chased around the house like a hyper-active puppy, playing with/carrying around her 'security socks', chasing her tail, and mercilessly hunting down any form of heretical Xenos lifeforms, from ladybugs, spiders & centipedes (her favourite dancing partner of all - so many legs to pounce on and tear off!), to mice & punching squirrels off of the screens when the windows are open!

Stitch also loves to 'sing' to us, (constantly), which can get highly annoying most of the time, but happily for her, it simply leads to dad unknowingly falling into her cunning trap and playing 'the chasing game' with her.

Our younger little ball of fur is Loki, who'll turn 5 later this year in Sept. While we also got her at a local pet store, we like to think that we instead rescued her from that hellhole... Loki was the runt of her litter, however the store owner had left her in the same enclosure as the rest of her litter, which lead to her being heavily abused by the other much larger kittens.
Hence, Loki never really learned how to play or 'speak cat' as a kitten. She's nowhere near as playful as Stitch, (who's really just an over-sized kitten in personality!), and when she does 'play' with Stitch, it usually leads to Loki dominating Stitch and trying to beat the ever living crap out of her.

They'll still have their moments together though, grooming each other on the head & face, though inevitably it leads to what begins as a playful 'tussle time', until Loki gets too rough for Stitch's liking. (and then hunt/pounce time ensues!)
It's quite hilarious to watch, as Stitch is literally twice Loki's size, but gaks herself and runs away like a scared little grot! Occasionally however, Loki will do something that Stitch knows is wrong for them to be doing, (such as going in behind the tv in the rec room), and will tear off after Loki to 'discipline' her. usually Loki is too fast for Stitch, but if Stitch does catch Loki, it pretty much turns into that scene from Avengers where Hulk pounds the crap out of Loki & then walks away!

Loki's favourite things include sleeping 18 hours/day, eating, eating, eating, looking cute & innocent, eating, and like Stitch, ruthlessly purging all Xenos lifeforms with extreme zeal!
We've also had to put up a sign leading in and out of the hallway leading upstairs, as Loki is prone to spontaneous outbursts of taking running & flying leaps down the stairs and through the hallway into the living room... (hence, the signs warning of 'occasional flying kitten crossing - proceed at own risk')

Unfortunately, we can't leave any food out in their dishes for them... Due to the conditions Loki was left to suffer in before we found her, she almost never got to eat much, since as soon as she'd go near the food dish, the other kittens from her litter would attack her and/or push her away from the dish.
When we first brought her home, we made the mistake of giving little Loki her own dish, and she gorged herself to the point of making herself sick. And despite all our efforts, she's just never learned that she doesn't have to gorge food as fast as possible.

So now when it comes to feeding times, while Stitch gets to eat in her own room, we have to take Loki aside and toss her, her food one piece at a time in order to ensure she chews/eats properly.
Stitch of course doesn't really understand why we can't/don't leave food out, and thus, she whines & cries constantly as she prefers to just eat 5-8 pieces of food at a time.

Still love our little girls to no end though!
