I am thinking of adding a IK to a space wolf list. I know I could get more thunder-wolf cav or wolfin for the price. I already have some in my list and wanted to do a different unit as well. Just kind of debating if I want to go that route or not.
Of all the Imperial knight I have looked at I am liking the base Warden and the Mechanicum Cerastus Knight-Atrapos. Both seam good to me. The warden I can by today and it is a lot cheaper point wise in the game. The other one I would have to order and I really like the rules. Not sure where to find them in hard copy. But from what I have seen they are nice.
What IK would you put in to a army with two good size thunder-wolf unit as a added threat unit. The goal is to have turn one charge or turn two at the latest.
I have never played Space-wolves or any marines for that matter. Or IK..
SO please any thoughts would be cool.

It really depends on what you want to do. Do you want to bust heavy armor at range and melee? Then go for the Atrapos.
If you just want tons of long-ranged fire support, I would recommend using a Crusader (comes from the same box as a Warden I believe so you just buy that and build it a bit different).
The Warden is a nice mix of the Crusader and the Atrapos because it has the gatling gun for firepower and can bust heavy armor in melee.

As what Audustum said, but if you're looking to end other GMC/SHW the Lancer puts in work. Between the shield working in melee, the concussive on the ranged attack and the formidable speed, it gets that job done.

If you don't want FW, then the Crusader is probably the best (unless you want a melee knight). It gets 2 arm guns instead 1 gun and 1 melee weapon. I'd recommend the mega-bolter and battle cannon

He's been ferried through hell on a ship that's ten thousand years old to some godforsaken, war-torn rock; He is one of ten million men snatched from his home to fight a war he barely understands; He wages war against devouring hiveminds, ravenous demons and hordes of hyper-advanced aliens with strange technologies and sorceries he never dreamed existed; no one will remember his sacrifice, there will be no records of his deeds, no glorious parades in his honor, and no remembrance of his name. All he will earn is a shallow, unmarked grave on a forgotten world untold lightyears from home.
Yet for all this thankless sacrifice a Guardsman is a man, just like you. He has no millennia-old genetic engineering, no prophetic leader, no miracles of faith. He has his lasgun, his orders, and those beside him. He is the Imperial Guard.
And he will hold the line.

My favorite is the Castigator
Heavy 8 S7 AP3 Twinlinked shots, good even against flyers, that
it's close combat weapon - oh man, nothing lives through that!!!

If you are looking to charge then I'd argue the Atrapos. If you are close enough to charge, you are probably close enough to shoot them in the face with the D weapon, too.

Warden and paladins are the best all around knights for their points. I find myself basically always taking a paladin with my marines.

I wish I spent my money on 5 Wraith Knights...
The Gallant is the only comparable one to the Wraith Knight but worse.
The rapid battle cannon can be substituted by 2 lemen russ battle tanks.

You can't use any of the FW knights if they are the only knight in your army.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."
This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

You can take them as a Lord of War for any Army of the Imperium. You can't only have one in an Imperial Knights detachment.

Yup - can be included as a Lord of War
Castigator has a decent weapon, super-autocannon of SM-DOOM (AP3) that's still viable against flyers (being that the 8 shots are looking for 6's - if you don't have a skyfire mysterious objective - and can then reroll your misses, so you'll have potentially 16 shots.. that's math-hammer for almost 3 hits, 2 HP's potentially, if the odds are even a little sweet.)
large blasts are unpredictable, i feel less concerned than i would say, a 15-shot weapon; you'll see maybe 5 hits off a pieplate on a good scatter.
8 shots though, against anything in powerarmour, and they're bound to be more than half their squad eliminated, and any transport/light AV is destroyed.
Anything looking to stand up to that, smash them with your sword. hahahaha

Lancer is my favourite, with Castigator being a close second. Not at all a fan of the Atrapos.

I'm sick of wolf stars, so I'm thinking of running a gallant to dish out some cc goodness. Thoughts?
Or would a crusader be better?

The go Iron Priests, and have them be able to split up and join up in and of any units they choose
Not quite 'Star' aka invincible
Very Flexible and Yielding to any particular battle
Space Wolves w/o Thunderwolves of some sort of presence just doesn't seem right

I am looking at a Knight for a different kind of threat then just thunderwolves.
I like the Warden cause he has 12 str 6 ap 3 shoots. I play Tyranids and I know how good that profile is with out the ap3.
I like the Atrapos because he runs on 3 dice. Has 7 hull points. Has a chance of getting one back each turn on a 6. It's ion shield makes -1 weapon str that it blocks. It has str 8 ap2 large blast armorbane template can at times become a Vortex D weapon for kicks and giggles.
The Atrapos. seams to me to be a little more survivable. Where the warden is slower but able to kill at lest one transport a turn if you add the 3 shot missile launcher to it. which makes these too about the same point coast.
As for the other knights I think all have there place but I guess it will depend on what you us of them is.

The Atrapos is a Knight with a lightsaber and a blackhole gun. Definitely the one you want!
