Subject: Inquisition/ Militarum Tempestus

Hello all,
Recently I've been big on the whole rogue inquisitor them for an army.. basically an inquisitor who has laid claim to a sector and will be its guardian/ ruler which ever way you want to look at it.
I pretty much have the inquisitor sorted as I know roughly what I want them to have and which disciplines they are going to represent.
But for every crazy inquisitor there needs to be an army that they have raised to fight the battles or do the deeds they don't see themselves doing.. at the moment I'm leaning more towards storm troopers to give me an excuse to have a large army of them to use alongside my inquisitor and whatever they do.. so militarum tempestus seems to be the logical choice for that but.. no tanks.. I was thinking for this I could add in an allied detachment of AM , but to do that I need to have a troop and HQ.. and I want the majority of my army to be stormtroopers..
But before I buy anything or settle on any one force.. I wanted the get Dakka's opinion, so what do you guys think? what would be the best fluffy force to run with an inquisitor (Ordo Malleus/ Xenos)?
Thanks, Berzerker

If you want storm troopers + tanks go for tempestus + AM tank or Flier formations. That works quite well. Automatically Appended Next Post: That is the whole fun of playing imperials. Just look for the units you would want to play in a formation. Most of the time there is an formation for it.

The MT books in theory would be perfect, as that is wxactly what inquisitorial stormtroopers are. The oroblem is that it is incomplete (doesnt allow Chimeras) and in general is one of the least capable armies in the game, being composed largely of Space Marine priced Guardsmen with throwing-distance ranged Wet Noodle guns, that make the AP3 impossible to get functional use out of.
What you can do is just run IG and run Veterans as Troops with the Grenadier carapace upgrade. A far more cost effective option in general.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.
New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts. |

I have to agree with Vaktathi, as much as I love the idea of MT and their elite special forces "Helldivers" feel, grenadier veterans do a much better job of reflecting it on the tabletop. If you want to connect them even more fluff wise you could run the D99 Elysian Drop Troops who are augmented by the Inquisition to deal with Tyranids (but ruleswise can get preferred enemy against other xenos with slight drawbacks) and they all get WS4/BS4 and I4 base.

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase. |

Thanks for the positive responses guys, with your feedback on board I've been looking at the different options and as I already have a small force of guard I think I'm going run veterans with carapace armour.. but play them as Elysian drop troops so they can deep strike..
So far the build for the units is:
Veteran Squad: demolitions (for demo charge goodness) grenadiers, vox and 2 plasma guns
I have two squads set like that with another similar unit without demolitions with snipers and a heavy bolter as no auto cannons for the Elysian's

Also as a side note, if you are looking for tanks you can take a tank commander as your HQ.
