So, My gaming group is going to be playing Kill Teams so I decided to finaly assemble my box of Skitarii Vanguard/Rangers for it, Right now I'm just building a small kill team (We are using the Heralds of Ruin rules) but I want to in time expand into a full army, Hoping Skitarii and Cult Mechanicus will get a combined codex soon.. But otherwise i'l probably get the Cult Mechanicus codex too in time.. Anyways, I was curious if anyone played AdMech? If so, Do you play Skitarii, Cult Mechanicus or both? Are they fun?

I have great fun with my cult mech, all those big guns and high point models make for an interesting challenge. The formations in the book make for some interesting variations on playing style with the few models available. I've got a skitarii army just waiting to be built. Looking forward to adding them to the mix.

They're ok. I moved to them from my FW 30k AdMech because everyone whines about FW and 30k in 40k.....eh. They're way stronger than 30k AdMech, but they're way, WAY more boring. Only like 6 real units total (unless you count different guns as units...GW apparently does. Few customization options, one REAAAAAALLY good formation and a ton of lame ones means your how do I play a competitive army question is basically decided.

Like with most armies currently the best builds are also the most boring, and all the cool melee units are not able to compete.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

I currently play both, and have been playing them in HoR Killteam as well. They are very good in 40k. In KT i recomend the tech priest HQ he is unstoppable outside of ID.

I play against CSM(nurgle) and DA and they hate my destroyer with upgraded BS.

Also I have had great luck ith the Dragoon in kill team.

Fairly unlikely.

I play pure Skitarii. I lose most games, but I can't get over how badass the models are. I don't even mind that I lose.

It is rumored. Also rumored they will combine the two codex, ad a few units including a flyer. Not sure how possible it is, but I dont see why they wouldnt.

I've proxied for Skitarii a few times. Tons of fun to use.

I have nothing on regular Cult Mechanicus though.

Played that torn apart, boring thing a couple of times and converted to the FW-rules out of boredom.

I liked playing them more than marines currently. Mostly I played them Unbound with a dominus and BA Rhinos for some transports, and those were some fairly fun games. I have yet to dip my toe into the Cult Mechanicus but I think I will soon.

413th Lucius Exterminaton Legion- 4,000pts

Atalurnos Fleetbreaker's Akhelian Corps- 2500pts

I started up with a small Skitarii force and added a small cult force to it. I really liked the idea of the Sicarians so I bought enough to field the killclade formation.

I like them, but they're expensive and I expect most of them to die before they really do anything unless I'm putting them next to something that's even higher on my opponents hitlist. 2W and FNP isn't too impressive on a T3 model, but you do pay for it in full.

The cult has worked pretty amazing for me so far, especially the destroyers w/ heavy grav cannons. Stick a Dominus in a unit of them and they shrug off most things that aren't AP2.

You don't have to be happy when you lose, just don't make winning the condition of your happiness.

I have also had amazing success with the cohort cybernetica formation. You can get 3 relics for the group...it gets pretty expensive but having multiple "split fires" helps.

It is the most durable thing in the game imo. T7 2+/5++/5+++(could be 4++) IWND Dominus to repair a wound every turn.
using LoS to spread wounds around. Repulsor Grid....It is a nasty premade deathstar that needs no help. Although I have got invisibility on it in one game...My necron opponent was very upset, it killed a royal court, a unit of praetorian, deathmarks, destroyers, and a fair share of warriors. They easily made their points back despite being a 775 pt unit in that game.

As an old SoB player, rumours hold very little sway over me.

I also run this formation. It is VERY good against players who have never encountered it before. But, most people know to play around them. Biggest weakness is their speed. Oh and D weapons of course especially the D scythe Flamers.

I'm slowly starting admech. I am focusing on bringing a bunch of castelens, because I love big stompy robots. While I know they are good, what I'm more worried about is do people enjoy fighting against castelans? Would my army of robots be unfun to fight?

Their weakness being a broken weapon isn't necessarily a weakness...
