I'm curious as often it sounds like some of the AoS players say it wasn't their thing or they were intimidated by the fantasy vets.

Here's my plan. I will let them play with some veteran fantasy players' armies and use whatever they want if they can't use their AoS models (though stapling a piece of paper at then end of models they have that they want to use is at most all that is needed and some movement trays). Then I will match them up with other AoS players that never played 8th edition so they don't have some veteran giving them the stare-down and intimidating them and punishing noobish behavior with death. If they enjoy it perhaps the old players will offer advice or play in 2vs2 matches with them with a nooby and vet on each team. Personally I don't think fantasy is bad and the intimidation factor though wrong also happens in 40k as somebody getting back into it. I feel that if the veteran fantasy players can start the AoS players in a few games (provided they're ok trying it out) then they may actually learn to prefer it to AoS or at least enjoy it on its merits as well.

Perhaps it's already a lost cause since fantasy is dead but I think getting some new blood in our old hobby would not be a bad thing. Nobody wants to get curb-stomped in a game and nobody wants their game destroyed by a game company that failed to sell it correctly.

sounds good, I look forward to hearing the results. it would be interesting to see if any prefered good ol' fantasy to sigmar and friends™
I do miss playing WHFB and I absolutely hate being told by all the Sigmar's big day out players how much better it is than WHFB because that simply isn't the case. It's such a shame GW mishandled WHFB as despite 8ths flaws albeit few (I'm looking at you, cannons) it was far more balanced than 40k is now and was certainly much more enjoyable.
