I'd like to start working on some fantasy miniatures that I can use for WFB, AoS, and KoW, but I'd really like to use round bases if possible. This isn't a problem when it comes to minis that used to go on a 25mm square base, but when it comes to 20mm square bases, I'm having trouble finding a good solution. I'm sure things like skinks and goblins would look fine on 20mm rounds, but what about larger minis like high elves and empire? Does anyone have any pictures of minis like these on 20mm round bases? My google searches have come up empty.

In case it's not clear, 25mm rounds are not an option, because I wouldn't be able to rank them up tightly enough for WFB.

Check on eBay for MDF bases. I think Sarissa has them.

There are loads on ebay.

Renedra do flat circular bases.

Round slottas are available in a few places, like;

I think the OP wants to know how well some of the larger WHFB figures actually will fit on a 20mm round base.

Any size base can be ordered from Litko Aero if that is what you are looking for.

Been trying a few high elves on round bases myself, and while I have few pics, I'd say they'll fit on 20mm round bases - just. I think even plainly posed HE like sea guard and phoenix guard will look a bit cramped on 20mm rounds, but they'll fit.

I'm sooo, sooo sorry.

Sorry Tcrfelton. I could've told you from my own experience - Dakka no like Flickr image hosting. Fortunately Dakka's own gallery is pretty handy.

Nicely finished models! Those look like 25mm bases, though...

I'm sooo, sooo sorry.

You are right, brain fart...they are 25mm. But thanks for the tip about flikr and the gallery here.

That being said, all my high elves are on 25mm and heroes are on 32s just to stand out. I wouldn't recommend 20mm personally. Some models have a nice, small footprint, but things like shadow warriors/sisters of avelorn have a bit of a wider stance here and there. 25mm is comfortable for them.

Picture I don't have sadly but I had the same idea you had in regards to the round bases for multiple games. 20mm round bases are pretty small. Elves tend to not be a problem to mount on them but Empire tend to have their legs spaced wide so they are harder to mount on a round 20mm base.

Sorry to tag on to this thread. But, I wonder how a lot of the older metal High Elves look on round lipped bases look. If you were using Warmachine bases would you put your cavalry on 50mm's?

Thanks for the info, everyone. I'll probably just stick with square bases for my high elves.

Yeah, if you were going to go with warmachine bases 50mm would be the way to go. That's the size they use for cavalry.

When I rebased all my High Elves, I went for 25mm bases. Most infantry look really good on that size, and would probably look odd if put on anything smaller. I used 32mm bases for characters and the overly-dynamic Sisters of Averlorn. Cavalry were on the new smaller ovals, which I got as MDF from Ebay for fairly cheap.

Hope this helps.
