Regular Dakkanaut

Recipe:
Dire Avenger Legs (without DA aspect pendant)
Dire Avengers bodies
OOP Kabalite Warrior heads (spikey bits trimmed off)
Fusion Guns (Forgeworld, old eldar weapons sprue, or kitbashed fusion guns apply)
Glue it all together and it should look like a fire dragon. Thought of this over the weekend and it sounds pretty darn cool to me. Just thought I might share it for all the folks here on Dakka.

Veteran Knight Baron in a Crusader

Looking at the bits choices, you'd be missing some of the nice detail on the official models, but it'd be a good fit. Especially with the right paint and maybe just a touch of greenstuff.
Another thing, could one even perhaps use a Dire Avenger head with the plume cut off to make it the right sort of shape? It would probably need a little bit of greenstuffing, but I think most people would have more access to Dire Avengers heads than OOP Kabalite heads if anyone else were to try this.

You might be surprised. True kin sprues have always been pretty good about including a lot of head options, so I wouldn't be surprised to find a ton of heads floating around for sale somewhere. Granted, a lot of those old heads were the crazy helmet hair ones...

ATTENTION. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

Anti-Armour Swiss Guard

Did something similar to this years ago (the DE warriors were new at that point). DE warrior helmet and spiky crest piece. Painted up the crest to look like flames. Otherwise, plastic fusion gun (really old metal/plastic guardian box from RT. Arms and weapons were plastic). Also made a couple from spare metal storm guardian fusion gun arms. Never took pictures, and got rid of the army last month (only kept a handful of models that I still liked).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...
... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.
