In need of a somewhat competitive Nid list for my locals, i know nids are not the best but i already have them and i love the models, was wondering if there was anyone that could help me?

Thats easy if you have the models.

This is a list of Models you will need, there is 5-6 variations of the list, but the list is Highly dependent on a few models.

Flying Hive Tyrant with 2 sets of Devourers You want as many as these as you can 3-5 is Ideal.

As for troops the best is Mucolid Spores, they are hard to get tho, very hard, (FW sells Large Spore for 30$ USD in a 3 pack, I would get this). They are by farm the best! If you dont have these then any other troop is fine, BUT just take the very minimum you need.

Now the options you can take.

Hive Crones/Harpies
Mawlocks/Lictors
Many Lictors
Venomthropes/Malanthrope (Mal is a FW large and better and cheaper version of Venomthropes).
GSC (Dont have to use the 600pt formation, but having cheap Hit and Run genestealers with guns isnt a bad idea)

The idea is to have a list start out like:

HT: 2 Devourers, Wings (maybe Ele Grubs for Av13+)
HT: 2 Devourers, Wings
HT: 2 Devourers, Wings

VenomThrope x2 (Better option Malanthrope)

Mucolid Spore
Mucolid Spore
Mucolid Spore

Then add something like this:

Lictor
Lictor
Lictor

Mawloc
Mawloc

Or/And: Hive Crone x1-3

I personally like 3 Hive Crones and 2 Mawlocs.


The idea is that the DakkaFlyrant is super strong (VERY Strong) 12 TL S6 shots on a Flying MC with 2 Powers! x3+!!!
Teh have a few very hard hitting/MSU models to back them up, giving you Shrouded Turn 1-2 for super cheap is good aswell.

For the past eight months or so, we have permitted open use of formations and detachments. It was a big change at the time and we have been monitoring the fall out.

After some discussions today, we will be altering the format for future Melton Meltdown Tournaments by enacting the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) principle. We will be reverting back to easier and fairer times for all players.

Please be aware of the following changes for next month:
- Your army MUST use ONE Combined Arms Detachment on Page 122 of the Rule Book.
- Your army may use ONE Allied Detachment on Page 122 of the Rule Book.
- No other detachments or formations will be permitted.
- You may have a maximum of ONE superheavy vehicle or gargantuan creature if it fits inside your CAD/Ally slots.
- The superheavy vehicles and gargantuan creatures that are inside the Escalation book will be allowed. The Revenant Titan is banned.

Also note that we will no longer permit any Chinaforge models for Melton Meltdown Tournaments. Use them in your casual games in your garage. If you are found to be using a Chinaforge model on the day, it will be taken from the table and removed from your army for the rest of the day.

A) We're making it easier for people to play simpler games, like we had around eight months ago. It's a good change, not a bad one. Melton Meltdown Tournaments are enjoyable, social tournaments with easy access for all players.

Q) But my formation lets me run ten Imperial Knights?!?!
A) Your formation is now banned. You can only run one Imperial Knight if it will fit inside your CAD/Ally slots.

Q) But I hate those new rules!
A) Then play in your mate's garage instead.

We have consistently told all 40K players not to take the game too seriously and to have some fun with it.

OK, none of those rules effects what I told you......

Now I do agree with 1 Super heavy, I do not agree with anything else, especially you MUST have 1 ally... ? WTF is that about? thats stupid.

I also dont agree that KISS as he sees it is good, formations are powerful, but they also make under powered armies able to be playable. I couldnt play DE without them nor my SoB (I mean in a highly comp environment).

But those are my 0.2.

I agree with you like the nids i think kinda need their formations.

Those are some crazy rules. With those in mind I agree with the lists given so far, they are probably the strongest you can go. I would replace the Hive Crones with more Mawlocs though as a personal preference.

But i'm gonna say this, those rules will play right in to the hands of Eldar. The will have a field day with Scatterbikes and a wraithknight.

Av12 is easy, just use those 36 tl s6 shots from your Tyrants and the Haywire Missiles from the Crones. Super Heavy's.... if you are lucky and 1 side has Av 12 shot that, if not.. gl!

Yeah, I was going to suggest a living artillery node because it really helps cover a lot of the weak points nids have (powerful shooting and long range shooting. But no formations.... sooo...

Say i was going to start a 1500 point army no Eldar uless its Dark Eldar lol what would be the best way to go for comps i was leaning to Necrons, but also im waiting for needs to get some help.
