Made some interesting changes to my list that I really need some opinions on because I have never seen anyone run anything similar in my meta. Especially the viability of the gorethunder battery. ALSO I was curious of how viable the burning skyhost is compared to gorethunder battery and if I should swap it out.
Flayertroupe
----------------------------------------------
Warlord - Herald of Slannesh (Loci of Beguilememt, Psycher Lvl 2, Book of True Names)
6 units of 10 Daemonettes with 1 icon of chaos
Daemon Lords
----------------------------------------------
Belakor
Keeper of Secrets (Psycher Lvl 3, 2 Greater Rewards, Soulstealer)
Gorethunder Battery
-----------------------------------------------
3 Skullcannon of Khorn
1 Herald of Khorn with Bloodthrone

Truthfully I prefer the rot swarm. I have been running 6 single beasts and a large unit of drones. Done well for me.
Why demonettes? They are one of the weaker choices IMHO. Pinks obv is the strongest. Automatically Appended Next Post: I guess if you just like slaneesh its ok

I'm just not sold on this. It's just soooo easy to shift T3, 5+ save models when they are charging straight at you. You might try it and find it works wonderfully by just swarming your opponent.
I also don't like the book as much in this kind of a list. Are you booking the Keeper? Belakor should be able to give the keeper invisibility, that should not be an issue. With 6 different squads, it's not like you have a deathstar worth booking. There are so many other great weapons you could give the herald -- especially with the new list of hellforged artifacts.
If you could find a way to squeeze in fateweaver, maybe by dropping some other psychic levels, you have a much better chance of getting a 10 on the warp storm table. This can be great for an army like yours.

I'm fond of this, and they can synergize well together. Reavas wrote:Gorethunder Battery

I would drop this for a forgehost. It gives some nice anti-air, and the rest of your army will be rushing forward to engage with the enemy while these are skull cannons are lowered in value after turn one. A forgehost will be all over your opponents face with your daemonettes, and AV 13 walkers can be a pain in the ass to deal with.

The forgehost idea sounds great! Will change keeper of secrets to my warlord and be'lakor as a support for him
Important question tho, what weapons are best suited for the soul grinders? And can they shoot both weapons (like warp gaze and cannon?)

Walkers can shoot two weapons, so yes, they can move and shoot.
If you have the points, the torrent flamers are very nice. Lots of people swear by the AP3 STR 8 large blast, but I'm not sold. The reason is that the forgehost lets them reroll all 'to hit' and 'to wound'. The scatter dice is not a 'to hit', and cannot be rerolled. That ability is HUGE, and not to be underestimated. The torrent flamer lets you get those wounds in, so the rest of your grinders are rerolling hits and wounds. Something that helps their BS 3 issue with the harvester cannon and warp gaze.
Just as often, I just my soul grinders with just the harvester cannon. They are enough of a threat on their own to make my opponents need to address them.
In regards to marks, there are a few good ones. Khorne is the cheapest, because it grants very little to them. If a harvester has lost it's claw, it can still furious charge. I like Tzeentch for the price, because rerolling 1s helps keep them alive. Slaanesh gives fleet -- a very nice perk to help get them up close. Nurgle is the only one that does not do it for me
I've found soul grinders to be good, and to get much better if you buff their invulnerable saves. A well placed 'cursed earth', or a 10 on the warp storm table really helps to push them to the next level. A tzeentch grinder with a 4+ invulnerable save is ignoring incoming fire 58.3% of the time -- much to the frustration of your opponent!

Im thinking Baleful torrents on 2 and 1 with warpgaze for bigger vehicles, so your saying I can use both the baleful torrent and harvester cannon in one turn? Because thats crazy

I personally love the nurgle upgrade.
I often deep strike them into woods or something similar and although sometimes hard to be obscured when you are you get that 3+ cover. It's great

Yes, you can use them both in one turn. If you use the phlegm you are snap shooting the harvester cannon as the phlegm is ordnance. Automatically Appended Next Post: Icelord wrote:I personally love the nurgle upgrade.

Night fighting gives you that +1. If you can come up with clever ideas to give cover to your grinders that could be useful. I still like the other marks more, but there is always more than one way to do it, right?

You can't snapshot templates. If you use the large blast, ordnance template, you have to snapshot the harvester cannon.
If you use warp gaze or the torrent flamer, you can shoot the harvester cannon as normal.

Labmouse, just so you know, anything that lets you re-roll to hit lets you reroll the scatter on a blast template

I personally like the ForgeHost with 2x Slaanesh Baleful Torrents and 1x Nurgle Phlegm. Phlegm is most likely to cause a wound, allowing the Torrents to re-roll their to wounds. OR if there are flyers/FMCs, re-rolls on them.

Really? I was under the impression that was only with twin-linked scatters, not rerolling to hits dice. Cool. See, I worry about Phlegm scattering off. With a 2/3 chance of scatter, the odds are not good.
Torrent on the other hand can reliably get 4-6 targets under the template. Unless your opponent is making terminator saves, the odds are you will pluck at least one with it. It seems a lot more of a stable bet to me.
