Hey guys getting back into to 40k, last time I played was I think 3rd edition.

Putting together an Eldar army. Looks like the I'll be playing a lot against a Pedro Sternguard drop pod list that looks pretty nasty, a grey knight army, and other drop pod marine lists. I'm wondering how do you counter this with Eldar other than going second, and if I do go second what do I put on the table to begin with that can actually survive the alpha strike? I read up on null deployment, how do you apply this with Eldar? I was hoping to be playing a fun skimmer based army with jump aspect warriors (warp spiders, swooping hawks, shadow spectres), no wraithknight (using a Lynx as my "big toy"). Also didn't want to take any allies, just pure eldar.

Would really appreciate any help you could give me, cheers.

1. Camp in cover what you plan to start with on the table. It'll stop your Aspect Warriors from falling over from Sternguard fire.
2. Null deploy is great. Reserve your best toys or camp them in cover/bubblewrap them.

I'd be able to give better advice if I know what exactly you were running.

Thanks for your reply, this is the list I'm planning to use:

Autarch, fusion gun, swooping hawk wings

Farseer, jet bike.

9 Dire Avengers
Wave Serpent, shurken cannon hull weapon, twin linked scatter laser, holo fields

3 Jetbikes w/scatter lasers

3 Jetbikes w/scatter lasers

Crimson Hunter Exarch, 2 Bright lances

Hornet Squadron - 2 Hornets with 2 Pulse Lasers

3 Shadow Spectres including Exarch with prism blaster.

Falcon, bright lance, shuriken cannon, holofields

Lynx, Pulsar, bright lance, holofields

Aspect Host +1BS

6 fire dragons including exarch (ride in falcon)

6 Swooping Hawks including exarch

6 Warp Spiders

TOTAL: 1841pts

Not really sure what to do with the 9pts. Could drop the prism blaster from the shadow spectre exarch and beef up the dire avenger squad.

I don't know what I should start on the table, nothing's particularly tough.
