Fluff-wise it seems a nice choice... Possessed as Troops (Gal Vorbak?), they are followed by poltergeists, and some other small things... waht do you think?

The cause fear thing is fine; simply replace the poltergeist following with a horde of daemons struggling to break through the barrier between realities.
I think the real contention is only being able to upgrade to VoTLW on cult marines.
