So here is my question.

I play chaos renegades as my primary force. I run a CAD of chaos daemons to ally in a chaos knight. Do i have to roll the warp storm table? The renegades would be my primary detachment as my warlord has to be my demagogue.

It's more than a thought process, it's explicit in the Warp Storm rule. Be sure to read it just in case you get questioned.

I know the digital version modified the verbage on some of the rules to include the heralds. So i was just confirming.

But....... the warp storm table is half the "fun" of playing daemons

Until every opponent you face complains about it non stop.

"oh, you did 2 wounds with the warp storm, its sooooo broken"... ugh.

IMO the only time I've felt like warp storm was broken, was when my opponent rolled snake eyes, and then promptly rolled nothing but box cars for every instability test. On turn 1.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

In low point games it can make a significant difference. I once rolled 10, 11, 12 in consecutive turns at a 750pt tournament. When your opponent has a psyker for his HQ, this kind of thing is incredibly disheartening
