Since everyone knows to kill the @#$%ing spider, I thought I'd try to run two minimum size harvest, which gives them two spiders to shoot at, which will hopefully make target prioritization trickier. This is instead of running with a larger single harvest. Other than that, this is a fairly usual list, a mobile reclamation legion (only people on foot are the 5 man squad of tax immortals), and a destroyer cult, with the destroyer lord kited out for melee and joining one of the wraith units.

Being mobile my plan is to deploy second, ideally set up in a denied flank position, failing that as forward as I can get with the ghost arks blocking LOS on the squishier units behind them. This isn't really a Gimmick list (well unless you count being highly resistant to small arms), and my plan is to get close and mix it up. The goal is to be a take all comers list, so I have a mix of AP weapons, the ability to kite strong melee units. What do you guys think?

I would drop the command barge barge especially as you didn't give him a warsythe. His only purpose in life is to vector strike and then charge something with his s7 ap2 armor bane beat stick. Extra points if he uses the void reaper to do the same thing to a wraithknight.

Drop down to a regular overlord stock or zandreck. Use the points saved to get more tomb blades and kit out the ones you have with sheild vanes particle beamers and nebuloscopes

Thanks for the feed back, but The chariot is not a flyer, it's a character, fast, skimmer, open topped, chariot. None of those have the vector strike special rule, he does have a cool hammer of wrath, but that can't take advantage of any weapon he has, and if he is in CC with a wraith knight he is well past saving.

Besides Giving a CCB a close combat weapon is kind of contrary to it's longevity, because at range you choose where the hit goes, so you can juggle low str hits to the barge (where they do nothing) and high str hits to his 2+/4++/4+++ saves with it will not die and resurrection orb. In CC the attacker decides which part he is attacking, and can overwhelm the lord with attacks, or use armor bane on the chariot it self (which will crush the 13 armor). If a CCB gets into close combat with any unit that can tie it up for a turn or two, it's over.

What the CCB is good at is denying slay the warlord, it's fast (so it can avoid CC), and has the best of both worlds when it comes to shooting defense. It's also large, so more units can take advantage of enhanced repair protocols (within 12"). Finally it provides 5 SMEQ killing shots a turn, two twin linked and three at BS 5. Better yet since the rider always counts as stationary, you can use those three s5/ap3 shots even moving flat out. It also has a leadership reroll, but that will probably only be useful for warriors who are tar-pitting something.

Despite all of that, it's probably still not worth it's points. It's only good in light of how bad the other option for the warlord is in a formation like this, which is joining the only other unit on foot, the immortals. I could bump up the number of immortals, and add in a cloak of darkness to deep strike and teleport around the battlefield once a game. But immortals just don't pack enough punch to be worth it as a deep striking gun line, and that leaves my warlord in harms way with no ability to flee outside of once per battle.

I could get a lychstar going to give him something to do, but that takes away from more effective CC Units, like the harvest, and then he gets to hoof it across the BF trying to catch someone.

Constantly being negative doesn't make you seem erudite, it just makes you look like a curmudgeon.

Thinking more about the CCB and the D-Lord, after shifting some points around, I was able to squeeze in a lych star with a night scythe transport. Had to get rid of the CCB, but truthfully not a great loss.

I'll have the D-Lord and overlord jump in the night scythe, for hand delivery to the enemies front line on turn 2.

If you want to avoid Slay the Warlord, Trazyn is a wonderful choice.
130 points over your 185. Granted he doesnt do much in the way of attacking, but put him in a pack of lychguard and most should ignoree him or waste a lot of effort taking him down, just for him to pop back up.

I mentioned this in another thread where you suggested Trazyn, but he really is a suboptimal choice. He is no more survivable than any other overlord unless he has a full royal court of expendable characters that he can replace. Remember, he can't replace lychguard anymore because they nerfed his ability in the current codex.
