Hi !

As almost every two week, I'm working on a new army, this time demon (again) mostly Khorne.

Not much to say, it's a demon army... Painted by me... for someone else

Under the couch

They certainly pop.

What are the random orange blotches on the bases supposed to represent?

Hurr! Ogryn Bone 'Ead!

My guess would be lava glowing through the cracks of the rock.

Lovely as always!

Thanks a lot guys !

The orangeish things on the bases are kindda lava wannabe.
My client asked me to do something eye-catchy so I went for this

I had to step aside from this commission to take a urgent one in priority for one of my usual customers but I'll be back on these soon.

Looks tops, where did you nab those bases from?

Can't say I'm a fan to be honest. The Bloodcrushers themselves just look flat bronze with no real shading, and the complete randomness of the base colours makes no sense. It doesn't look like it's supposed to be lava, it just looks like you've done two sweeps with an airbrush and left it at that.

Thanks !

Home made, just chunks of slate from my yard + sand glue on the bases :

Well that's your right, I can't force to like my work but I don't understand why you took time to write this message. "Normal" people, when they write a negative critic, try to , at least, give some tips. What you did is just say "I don't like it, here is why" that's it, I don't get why you didn't just ignore the post.

Anyway Mondays update

As a professional, you should be open to criticism of your work. I stated what I believe could be improved, and while you evidently have good skills with an airbrush, they appear to be hurriedly applied with little thought as to detail. If you want negative critics to ignore your post and you only want "Wow, good job!", then you won't go far as a professional.

I think you didn't get my message as you just said exactly what I said above.

My first message was NOT against negative criticism, those are really important, more in fact, than the good ones as they are the ones that allow you to get better.
No, my message stated that yours just said "I'd don't like it, here is why" but didn't give any constructive comment/tips. That's quite a big difference.

I'm not one of those people who only want to get great/positive comments in order to feel "powerful" or "popular", in fact I know damn well that I wouldn't be where I am today, doing my absolute dream job/childhood dream, if not the constructives criticism people gave me for the past 14 years, allowing me to get better and better to the point friends and the unknown people started to ask me to paint their models for money.

So yeah, we think exactly the same thing we just didn't understood each other the right way

Yeah, I'm gonna have to go with this.

EDIT: Oh golly, looks like that became a point of contention.

Well, in the way of advice I'd say you could fix the bases by scrapping the idea of lava (if you're willing) and with the crushers, just paint the trim and details with more contrasting colors.

I thought it looked less like lava and more like the hellish warp opening up or on the surface. The most disturbing thing I noticed was the flesh under the skull cannon. It creeped me out and idk why.

Well I see that it's quite controversial
On my Facebook page / people who saw the army, the respond is mostly positive about those "lava things" whereas, here... not so much, it's good to ear from both sides, it puts things in perspective.

Thing is, as I believe I said earlier, this is usually not what I do, I like to keep things subtle usually. This was a demand of the army's owner who asked me "I'd like something lava like very eye-catchy on the bases" and when I showed him what I call the crash test, he absolutely loved it and so I did all the army like that.
But still I can understand your take on that, I used to think the same way until... well, until this army actually. And even if I couldn't... Tastes, everyone has different ones .

Anyway, here is the end of this "not-lava-based" army
