Hi Dakka, I was wondering if the SM of the 41st Millennium have their emotions removed during their training. I know that they're indoctrinated to love the Emperor more than most civilians or guardsmen. But do they have emotions actually removed, making them emotionless suits of metal. I ask this as they frequently demonstrate their lack of fear - "They are the defenders of humanity. They are my Space Marines and they shall know no fear" - but surely patriotism, anger, love, honour and rage would make them better soldiers.

Anyway, do they have all of their emotions removed? Thanks for any responses

Hate, anger etc are all well within their range of emotion. Love for anything but the Emperor doesn't happen.

They definately do have emotions. I think they're just not as pronounced. Probably trained to anchor and ignore them so it doesn't get in the way of any missions.
