Howdy all, im looking to paint a warm purple for my bases. Ideally, that nightglow kind of look when you see dark features after your eyes have adjusted to night.

Does anyone have a good example of purple basing and the scheme they used to achieve it? Not necessarily how the image below was achieved,.bur rather asking for anything like this or better. Any exmaples of how this effect can be done

If you are asking how hey achieved the one in the picture as well. Its just a black base coat with a dry brush of purple.

Looks like black base coat, then a dark purple heavy dry brush followed by a lighter purple light dry brush to really bring out the edges. If you are looking for an OSL type of effect, that's a whole different ballgame.

Warm or rich?

Because black base will give you a rich depth

while if you want a warm tone, then maybe base it in red first then apply purple over it to tint.

To warm purple you need more red, to cool it more blue. I'd start with a 50/50 mix for the basecoat, and add red for the highlights.

Not at present as purple isn't a colour I often paint with, if I can find a suitable test piece over the weekend I'll try to create an example.
