Guys, guys, GUYS! There's something really serious that I must ask you: IS THERE BACON IN WARHAMMER 40K? Or has it truly become the Dark Millennium, with that glorious substance forever gone from the bellies of mankind?

In all seriousness, though, do any novels have it? I'm actually really curious.

I remember one of the volpone blue bloods eating eggs and sausage. If they have that I'm sure bacon is still there. If not, why bother having an Imperium in the first place if there is no bacon?

Bacon from Terran stock? Probably not. Hogs are likely extinct, and like most other extinct Terran stock animals, lumped together with mythological creatures in Imperial lore. The only Terran critters I've seen referenced to (in source material) as still being around are dogs, cats, and horses. And, unfortunately, rats and spiders. Unless somebody who has read most (if not all) the novels knows of any more that are referenced.


"Bacon" analogue from xenos stock, on the other hand, is more than likely. But to me, if it doesn't come from a pig, it ain't Holy Bacon.

Was Commisar Gaunt eating bacon in that scene on the trench warfare planet? I remember Milo was there, and I want to say Caffran came in for a report of some kind and Gaunt offered some of the officer's breakfast supplies. I don't remember what book, but I'm pretty sure it was an early one. There might have been a bacon reference there.

You know Grox are a kind of lizard, right?

Why do you think its Grimdark? "In the future there is only war", because there is no bacon.

There is probably nothing that we would recognize as bacon, since it would not be from actual pigs but, instead, some sort of porcine-esque xeno-hybrid animal but, generally speaking, yes, bacon exists in 40K.

No. It is clearly stated in the introduction to Warhammer 40.000:
''To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no bacon amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods."

There are no pigs afaik, so there can never be bacon. It is one of those many things that has been forgotten forever in 40k. There might be meat that is similar to bacon though.

In the far future, there is only nutrientpaste and groxmeat!
