Greetings, I'm looking to add some rapier batteries to my Renegades, but they cost so much for one model. I was thinking maybe an artillery piece to mimin them. Has anybody done this? What scale of models works best on the 40k tabletop?

Here's to me in my sober mood,
When I ramble, sit, and think.
Here's to me in my drunken mood,
When I gamble, sin, and drink.
And when my days are over,
And from this world I pass,
I hope they bury me upside down,
So the world can kiss my ass!

A 1:35 20mm Flakvierling 38 like the Tamiya model http://www.tamiya.com/english/products/35091flakvierling/index.htm would be the obvious start, although it's not self-propelled if that matters to you.

But a quick google image search shows they're pretty easy to scratch-build (especially for Renegades, who may have fluff reasons to build their own out of whatever's available) - you just need 4 gun barrels and some sort of tracked chassis.

Imho it kinda breaks immersion as a lot of the 40k models are over exaggerated with massive guns and such as well as over simplified mechanics and big armor plating (not always)

I think for some things like artillery pieces it could be ok though.

Totally - the 1:35 20mm cannons look tiny in diameter compared to nearly all 40K weapons. If I was to use a WW2 model for 40K, I'd almost certainly be replacing all gun barrels with plasticard tubing.

I would be 40k'ing it up, though. I just don't want to spend £30 on each individual gun that then ships to the US when I could buy 3 guns that look similar and detail on my own to use on the gameboard.
