I'm painting up a tester Blood Reaver and he has bone spikes coming out of cracks on his skin. I'm trying to figure out a good way to make the cracks where the spikes come out bloody looking. Not dripping blood, but just raw looking.

Any recommendations for this effect? I was thinking maybe using Cariburg Crimson wash applied carefully or maybe even thinning down Blood For the Blood God a bit with Medium and using it in the cracks. Would this work?

yes. paint the spikes a bone colour, then layer up the skin around it with a reddy pink to make it look inflamed, and apply BFTBG in the recesses.
